Recently, Ranbir Kapoor’s movie ‘Animal,’ one of the most anticipated movies of the year, hit the theaters. Despite generating a lot of hype and anticipation before its release, the film fell short of expectations on multiple levels. While the makers believed that toxic masculinity would easily resonate with Indian men, this time sadly, it didn’t work. While many were disappointed when Alia Bhatt applauded this toxic saga, we are extremely happy to see many men taking a stand against this regressive, toxic movie.

The film is trash and that’s the bottomline. Director can try and spin it anyway, it will still remain trash. Film will do good business because of its buzz but it will remain trash.

I think people are aware of this. Toxic relationships must be explored in cinema. But clearly he lacks finesse he comes across as a petulant child whining because people question his regressive thoughts. An example is Darlings with Vijay Verma. Such a well made film. Nuanced.

While we are thankful to all men and women raising their voices against this toxic saga, it is high time that these filmmakers introspect how they are ruining the fabric of society that we live in.
