This week brings a fresh mix of OTT releases across Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, Apple TV, ZEE5 and Amazon MX Player. From murder mysteries and legal dramas to romance, comedy and reality shows, these 15 new movies and shows offer plenty of choices for your watchlist.
New OTT Releases This Week (September 21 – 27)
1. Bakaiti Season 2 (ZEE5 | September 25)
The Katarias are forced to live together again when redevelopment puts their old family home, Kataria Kutir, at risk. With Ajay, Alka and Aman back under the same roof, past arguments quickly return while Sanjay struggles with money problems and tries to stop the family from falling apart. Season 2 turns a housing crisis into another round of funny and emotional family chaos.
2. Don’t Be Shy (Prime Video | September 25)
Shyamili “Shy” Das prefers having every part of her life planned, but romance refuses to follow her rules. Her attraction to popular Mayank becomes more confusing when childhood friend Dhruv returns and Tara enters the equation. Produced by Alia and Shaheen Bhatt, the coming-of-age comedy follows Shy as carefully made plans give way to messy emotions.
3. Minerva Academy (Netflix | September 22)
Three students arrive at a strict military high school in Naples carrying very different reasons for being there. Salvo wants answers about a missing friend, Vincenzo hopes to follow his father’s military path, while Camilla has been sent away by her family. Inside an institution where discipline is unforgiving, each of them must handle personal pressure while trying to survive the rules.
4. Shaque: Trust No One (Netflix | September 24)
A mother has spent nine years living with the disappearance of her newborn daughter from a hospital. When photographs appear that may show the missing child, her hope returns but so does suspicion about the people around her. Parineeti Chopra leads this mystery where the search for one girl gradually makes trust itself difficult.
5. Habeas Corpus (Netflix | September 23)
Law professor Inez and her students reopen the conviction of a young man while working with ideas inspired by Innocence Project Brasil. Marina, one of Inez’s strongest students, joins the case carrying a personal reason she has not revealed. Fresh evidence soon puts teacher and student on different sides of a difficult debate about justice.
6. Wonka’s The Golden Ticket (Netflix | September 23)
Twelve pairs enter a recreated version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory hoping to survive a series of unusual challenges. Physical tasks, mind games and tempting choices test the contestants as they move through the colourful competition. A recreation of Gene Wilder’s Wonka voice adds another playful but unpredictable element to the experience.
7. My Sad Dead (Netflix | September 24)
Retired doctor Ema can communicate with dead people, while her niece Julie has a far more unstable connection with the spirit world. After three teenagers are killed in their neighbourhood, the boundary between the living and the dead begins to break down. Pablo Larraín directs this four-part adaptation of stories by Mariana Enríquez.
8. Blood Legacy Season 2 (Netflix | September 24)
Khanyi must fight to clear her name and recover her inheritance after being framed for her father’s murder. Around her, Mandla sinks further into political corruption, Siya risks everything for a forbidden relationship, and a leaked manuscript threatens to expose the family’s hidden past. Season 2 pushes the Ndlovu family deeper into betrayal, power struggles and personal conflict.
9. Hunkkaar – The Roar (JioHotstar | September 25)
Seventeen-year-old Meenu Rawat makes a serious accusation against Baapji, a respected cult leader with enormous influence over his followers. Her complaint triggers an investigation that begins questioning the power he holds within the wider community. Aneet Padda plays Meenu, while Fatima Sana Shaikh appears as the police officer drawn into the case.
10. Mango Pachcha (JioHotstar | September 25)
Prashanth, better known as Pachcha, starts out running a video-rental shop in Mysuru before inheriting his late father’s secret marijuana-smuggling business. Support from a corrupt mayor helps him grow the operation faster than expected, but success also pulls him deeper into organised crime. The more his ambitions rise, the harder it becomes to escape the dangerous world he has entered.
11. Rise & Fall Season 2 (Amazon MX Player | September 26)
Fifteen celebrities enter a reality competition where some live comfortably as Rulers while the rest struggle below as Workers. Hosted by Virender Sehwag, the 42-day game constantly changes positions as alliances form, rivalries grow and contestants fight their way up the hierarchy. By the end, only one Ruler can emerge on top.
12. The Final Problem (Netflix | September 25)
A violent storm traps thirteen people inside an island hotel off Mallorca in 1959, and the situation turns deadly when one guest is found dead. Basil, a retired actor famous for once playing Sherlock Holmes, joins an aspiring thriller writer to investigate what happened. What appears to be suicide soon becomes a murder mystery where every stranded guest is a possible suspect.
13. A Different World (Netflix | September 24)
Deborah Wayne arrives at Hillman College determined to build an identity separate from her famous parents, Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. Beginning her freshman year places her among a new group of students, friendships and challenges. The sequel brings a younger generation into the familiar HBCU setting while following Deborah’s attempt to find her own place there.
14. Brothers (Apple TV | September 23)
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson play exaggerated versions of themselves in a comedy built around the long-running question of whether they could actually be brothers. After Woody’s family moves into Matthew’s Austin ranch following his daughter’s broken engagement, an unexpected comment from Matthew’s mother brings their shared history under fresh scrutiny. What follows turns years of friendship into a very personal family mystery.
15. The Love Hypothesis (Prime Video | September 23)
PhD student Olive suddenly kisses intimidating professor Adam Carlsen because she wants her best friend to believe she has moved on from an old crush. To keep the story convincing, Olive and Adam agree to pretend they are dating and set clear rules around the arrangement. The problem begins when their carefully planned fake relationship starts producing feelings neither of them expected.
