Birthday Special: Underrated Akshaye Khanna Got A Hit After 14 Yrs Of Wait With Drishyam 2; Finally Talent Won

It is quite heartbreaking how Akshaye Khanna, even after being a talented actor, didn’t get his due. After the 2012 movie Gali Gali Chor Hai, Akshaye Khanna took a four-year-long break from Bollywood. He returned back in a negative role in Rohit Dhawan’s Dishoom starring John Abraham & Varun Dhawan.

Post which, he has been part of some fantastic movies like Section 375, Mom & Ittefaq. But, unfortunately, none of these movies turned into a huge box-office success. Before Drishyam 2, Akshaye’s last massive box-office hit was Race, which was released way back in 2008.

It is quite unfortunate how even after being so talented, Akshaye Khanna never got the due he deserved. Even after being part of great movies like Border (1997), Taal (1999), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Humraaz (2002), Hungama (2003), Hulchul (2004), Bollywood never did justice to Akshaye Khanna’s talent.

It is heartbreaking how so many people on social media describe him as one of the most underrated actors in Bollywood.

But, thankfully, with Drishyam 2, he finally got the commercial success that he deserved. His talent was not only loved by the audience but also box-office showed his much-deserved love. As per Wikipedia, the movie earned more than ₹345.05 crore worldwide. The movie turned out to be the highest-grosser of Akshaye Khanna’s career.

Though Drishyam 2 had a strong screenplay and talented actors like Ajay Devgn and Tabu, many called Akshay Khanna’s casting a masterstroke. During the movie’s release, many people took to social media to applaud Akshaye Khanna’s acting prowess:

With the roaring success of Drishyam 2, we hope Bollywood won’t ignore this talented actor anymore and will do justice to his acting skills. With Bollywood’s lackluster performances, it is high time that Bollywood starts valuing actors over stars. Because they can’t fool the audience with talentless stars anymore!
