Crew Girl Ending Explained: Does Teagan Choose Cam Or Josh?

Netflix’s Crew Girl spends its first season throwing Teagan Tao into one mess after another, but the finale leaves her with an even bigger problem: her heart still seems divided between Cam and Josh. At first glance, the ending appears to give viewers a clear answer, with Teagan sharing a kiss with Cam while Easton finally makes it back onto the podium. Look a little closer, though, and Crew Girl ends with almost every major relationship entering a new phase rather than reaching a true conclusion. So, what exactly happens in the final episode, and does Teagan really choose Cam? Here’s the Crew Girl ending explained.

Crew Girl Ending Explained: Does Teagan Choose Cam Or Josh?

Crew Girl Ending Explained

Spoiler Alert: This article contains major spoilers for Crew Girl Season 1, including the finale, Teagan’s love triangle and the Haverford Cup ending.

The Finale Puts Cam Ahead – But Josh Is Definitely Not Out

If you only look at the final romantic moment, Cam has the advantage. Teagan and Cam reconnect near the end of the season and kiss, making it seem like the pair may be giving their relationship another chance.

But the scene comes almost immediately after Josh makes his own move. Following his heart surgery, Josh asks Teagan to consider giving him another chance, and while she never clearly accepts or rejects him, their interaction makes it obvious that the emotional connection between them is still alive.

That is what makes the finale more complicated than a simple “Teagan chooses Cam” conclusion. Cam gets the kiss, while Josh gets the unresolved possibility — and Teagan still seems to be figuring out what she actually wants.

Why Teagan And Cam Keep Finding Their Way Back To Each Other

Cam and Teagan connect because both of them enter Easton feeling like they have something to prove. Teagan arrives after her old life falls apart, while Cam is constantly fighting against the feeling that he does not quite belong among Easton’s privileged students.

Their relationship grows from that shared outsider status, and Cam eventually asks Teagan out. But his insecurity, particularly around money and what he thinks he needs to offer her, begins creating problems between them.

Their romance becomes increasingly messy as the season continues, yet the finale proves that the attraction between them has not disappeared. That final kiss feels less like a perfect romantic ending and more like a sign that their story is still unfinished.

Josh’s Health Crisis Changes More Than His Rowing Future

Josh spends much of the season presenting himself as someone who has everything under control, but that image begins to fall apart when he discovers he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The condition makes continuing competitive rowing dangerous, yet Josh initially refuses to accept what the diagnosis could mean for his future.

Family pressure only makes things worse. Instead of stepping away from rowing, Josh secretly tries to find a way to continue competing, until heart pain leads to a car crash and forces him to reveal what has been happening.

His father ultimately supports him, while his grandfather’s colder reaction explains why Josh had been so afraid of appearing weak. By the end of the season, Josh has undergone heart surgery, although his future in rowing remains uncertain.

The experience also changes him emotionally. Teagan gets to see a much more vulnerable version of Josh, which may be one reason she cannot completely close the door on their relationship.

Teagan Makes A Huge Sacrifice After Learning Cam’s Secret

One of the season’s biggest turning points comes at the Norfolk Indoor Rowing Invitation, where a junior national team scout is watching the athletes. It is a huge opportunity for Cam, but Ryder secretly offers him $48,000 to deliberately lose the race.

Cam initially refuses, but his family’s financial problems eventually change his mind. When Teagan notices that something is wrong with his performance, she confronts him and learns about the deal.

Teagan then interferes with the erg so the result becomes invalid. The move wipes out both her score and Cam’s, but it also prevents Cam’s deliberately poor performance from permanently damaging his future.

The biggest sacrifice is Teagan’s own opportunity. She also had a chance to impress the scout, meaning she risks her own ambitions in order to give Cam another shot.

Easton Finally Reaches The Podium — And Coach Hayden Pays For It

The sabotage creates major fallout ahead of the Haverford Cup. Officials determine that either Teagan or Cam interfered with the equipment, and Principal Cabrera wants the responsible athlete removed from the boat.

Teagan initially steps aside, but then the rest of the crew refuses to compete without her. It becomes one of the finale’s biggest moments because a team that spent much of the season divided by jealousy, competition and secrets finally stands together.

Coach Hayden allows Teagan back into the boat, with Cam taking the stroke seat and Teagan returning as coxswain. Easton does not win the Haverford Cup, but they finish second, earn silver and finally return to the podium.

The achievement comes at a cost. When Principal Cabrera realizes that both Teagan and Cam were allowed to compete, Coach Hayden accepts responsibility for the decision and is fired.

The Broken Oar Mystery Ends With A Surprising Reveal

For a while, the crew believes Logan sabotaged Easton by damaging an oar because he had been left alone in the boathouse after meeting Baloo. The suspicion damages their relationship, with Baloo believing Logan betrayed both him and the team.

But Logan eventually reveals that he was not responsible for the sabotage at all. The person who actually broke the oar was Josh.

The truth clears Logan and allows him and Baloo to repair their relationship. It also exposes another side of Josh, showing just how far the pressure surrounding competition, family expectations and rowing has pushed him.

Teagan Finally Gets Closure From Her Father

Teagan’s family problems have shaped almost everything about her new life. Her father, David, is accused of defrauding investors, causing the FBI to seize the family’s money and leaving Teagan and her mother to rebuild their lives while he disappears.

When David eventually returns, he believes he has found a way to recover some of what the family lost. Teagan, however, no longer wants another escape plan from her father — she wants him to finally face what he has done.

She tells him that she would rather know where he is, even if that means he is in custody, than continue living with him constantly disappearing. David eventually listens, watches Teagan compete at the Haverford Cup and then turns himself in.

It does not undo the damage he caused, but it gives Teagan something she has not had for most of the season: certainty about where her father is and what happens next.

Britney’s New Team Could Completely Change Teagan’s Future

The finale introduces one more major complication when Britney helps convince Easton to create a girls’ crew team. It may initially seem like a side development, but it could have a major impact on what Teagan chooses to do next.

Teagan has become deeply connected to the boys’ crew, but she also has ambitions of her own as an athlete. A girls’ boat could give her another path forward and force her to decide between staying with the team she helped rebuild or focusing more directly on her own rowing career.

Then there is Britney herself. The two already have a complicated relationship, so putting them together in a new crew could create an entirely different rivalry if the story continues.

What The Crew Girl Ending Is Really Saying About Teagan

The most important part of the finale may not actually be whether Teagan chooses Cam or Josh. It is how far she has come from the girl who arrived at Easton after losing her home, her old rowing path and nearly every piece of stability in her life.

By the finale, Teagan has earned the respect of the crew, helped Easton return to the podium and built relationships that genuinely matter to her. Instead of simply trying to recover the life she lost, she has started building a completely new one.

That is also why the romantic ending remains deliberately messy. Teagan still has choices to make — not only between Cam and Josh, but between very different versions of the future she wants for herself.

So, Does Teagan End Up With Cam?

For now, Cam is the closest thing Crew Girl gives us to a romantic answer. Teagan kisses him before Season 1 ends, suggesting that their relationship is very much alive and that they may be willing to give things another chance.

But Josh’s request for another chance — and Teagan’s reaction to him — keeps that door open. The finale therefore stops short of declaring that Teagan has permanently chosen one boy over the other.

The Crew Girl Ending Summary: Teagan chooses a moment with Cam, not necessarily a future without Josh. And if the story continues, that unresolved love triangle could become even messier.
