Hey peeps ... I’m 24F, just started my first job after post-grad, and my parents are already pushing me to meet men.

Their logic? “Start now, get married by 26—don’t wait!”

But I just finished my studies and want to live my life first—travel, enjoy life with friends, learn new hobbies, and meet new people - but not for marriage.

My parents keep saying that late marriages cause problems.

What should I do? What do you think is the right age for Indian women to get married?

Looking back, I really wish I had spent my 20s focusing more on myself. Marriage and kids are amazing, but honestly, having the freedom to explore life, travel, and really figure yourself out is priceless. Don’t let anyone rush you! The right time to get married is when you feel ready - mentally, emotionally, and financially. Forget society’s timelines; your happiness comes first.

Once you hit 20 in India, every relative, neighbor, and aunty on WhatsApp will start asking, ‘When are you getting married?’ They make it their life’s purpose to bother you with unnecessary advice and taunts. The right time for any woman to get married is when she is physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially ready!

Oh wow, I’m in the same boat! Everyone keeps telling me to ‘start looking for a husband,’ but honestly, I don’t want to rush. I want to become financially independent first, and then think about a husband. Honestly, I’m not even sure what kind of husband I want right now. I don’t think late marriage is a problem - marrying the wrong person definitely is, especially considering how many people are getting divorced!

26–27? That’s when most of my friends and I got married! But yes, some got married sooner-they thought raising kids would be tough once you hit 30. And they weren’t wrong, but honestly, raising kids at any age is difficult. At least now, my husband and I are more financially stable, so we can handle the expenses without going broke! I feel the right age really comes down to you and what you want in life

Yaar, people are marrying at all ages now. I have friends getting married at 38, and others at 24. Some who got divorced are remarrying at 40, and some aren’t even getting married at all. So, I don’t really know about the right age for Indian women to get married! But I feel it’s when you’re ready and have found a partner who’s willing to stand by you - even if the whole world is against you
