The medical condition known as “Fetus in fetu” is medical abnormality where a twin gets embedded inside its sibling while they are still in the womb.

Though the infant was born with a swollen stomach, the doctors didn’t detect anything abnormal at the first. But when the child was readmitted to Sir Sundarlal Hospital because of frequent cold and stomach aches, the doctors conducted certain tests to understand the problem.

The test results helped the doctors to determine the nature of the child’s problem. With time, it became clear that the infant had a swollen stomach because of her 1.1 pounds twin sister.

The child was operated upon by a team of doctors who detected the abnormality in the nick of time.

During the operation, the doctors successfully removed the underdeveloped embryo, which was a large mass with hands, legs, stomach, chest and spinal cord.
