On July 22, 2019, when Chandrayaan-2 was successfully launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), millions of Indians had their eyes glued to their TV screens feeling the same emotion – the emotion of being proud.

And, then again many of us waited eagerly for the successful soft landing of Vikram lander which was supposed to commence on September 7 around 1:55 AM.

As a nation, we stayed awake at the oddest hours to witness it. But, unfortunately, Vikram lost communication with ISRO leaving billions of heartbroken.

Despite the sadness of the minor landing failure, there are multiple reasons to celebrate this accomplishment.

One such reason is how ISRO managed to inspire an entire generation of women to explore STEM and space exploration as a career option.

ISRO’s dream-team of talented women scientists – Project Director M Vanitha and Mission Director Ritu Karidhal – did the unthinkable and inspired many young girls across the country to explore being a scientist.

Though many young girls shy away from building a career in the STEM i.e. fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, ISRO has recently inspired many young girls to dream about becoming a scientist.

Recently, many people took to Twitter to share the same:

We wish all the luck to ISRO for future endeavors. And want to thank them for inspiring an entire generation to enter into a world of exploration, and for teaching them to never lose hope.
