Unlike other conventional movies, JugJug Jeeyo isn’t about happily married ever after. It focuses on an unconventional topic of divorce and post-marriage issues. As per the trailer, the movie is about two generations of married couples. Depicting the bond of love between the two couples from different generations, this movie focuses on the post-marriage issues. The movie’s premise is about the changing definition of love and marriage with time. And, without letting go of the humor, the movie focuses on the taboo subject of divorce.

A dialogue around divorce in India
In the Indian society, which has been obsessed with marriage as ‘7 janam ka saath’, the subject of divorce is taboo. It is sad how even in the 21st century, many people are still forced to suffer in broken marriages. People don’t even want to talk about divorce as it is still seen as a failure in our society.
This regressive attitude is the reason why so many people stay in an unhappy marriage even after struggling mentally, emotionally, or physically. It is time that we shatter the stereotype about divorce and start talking about divorce as a new beginning.
At this point, we cannot say if JugJugg Jeeyo will manage to portray the broken marriages with the utmost sensitivity, but the trailer looks promising. With the power-packed star cast, along with a powerful subject and humor, this movie is definitely much-awaited.

The Raj A Mehta and Karan Johar family drama, JugJugg Jeeyo, will be out in the theatres on June 24 this year, so mark your calendars!
