New Web Shows Releasing This Week (Sep 14-20)
1. Neagley (Prime Video)
Frances Neagley, a former Army investigator now working privately in Chicago, is shaken when someone close to her dies in what looks like a suspicious accident. Refusing to accept the circumstances, she starts digging into the case and discovers signs of a much larger and dangerous organisation. 2. Lust Stories 3 (Netflix)
Four filmmakers bring separate stories about modern relationships, attraction and intimacy in the third chapter of Netflix India’s anthology franchise. Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj explore very different sides of love through a large ensemble that includes Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vijay Varma, Ali Fazal and Aditi Rao Hydari. Each story looks at what happens when private desires collide with complicated emotions.
3. The Scandal (Netflix)
Lady Cho turns romance into a dangerous game when she challenges famous playboy Jo Won to seduce a young woman destined to become a concubine. Jo Won chooses an even harder target instead: Hui-yeon, a respected widow determined to protect her honour. What begins as manipulation in Joseon society becomes increasingly complicated when desire and real emotions enter the wager.
4. The Doll (Netflix)
In 19th-century Warsaw, successful merchant Stanisław Wokulski becomes deeply fascinated by aristocrat Izabela Łęcka while trying to rise into her social world. Their growing connection is complicated by money, class expectations, obsession and Izabela’s determination to live on her own terms. 5. Plastic Beauty (Netflix)
Talented surgeon Fumi Numata loses her position at a university hospital after carrying out an emergency operation and joins a famous cosmetic surgery clinic to continue practising medicine. She arrives intending to uncover what she believes is wrong with the clinic, but celebrity doctor Rin Tohyama sees cosmetic treatment as a way to rebuild people’s confidence. Their clash raises difficult questions about beauty, medicine and what it really means to help a patient.
6. Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story (Netflix)
The fourth Monster story revisits the shocking 1892 murders of Andrew and Abby Borden in Massachusetts. Ella Beatty plays Lizzie Borden as a young woman trapped inside a deeply troubled household shaped by cruelty and humiliation, while maid Bridget Sullivan has struggles of her own. The infamous case becomes the centre of a dark psychological drama about family, repression and violence.
7. Not a Stranger (Netflix)
After becoming a mother, painter Funda steps away from her career and hires Nazlı to help care for her baby. The arrangement begins to feel dangerous when the nanny’s unsettling behaviour reveals an increasingly unhealthy fixation on the child. Funda and her husband İlker soon realise that the person they trusted inside their home may be hiding a frightening secret.
8. Best of the Best (Netflix)
Childhood friends Maya and Anjali arrive at UCLA excited about college life and join the university’s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team. Their dream of reaching the US national championship quickly becomes harder when they discover just how intense the competition can be. Hasan Minhaj plays the demanding coach pushing the team towards its biggest challenge.
9. Slow Horses Season 6 (Apple TV)
The agents of Slough House are thrown into another deadly intelligence battle as retaliation and revenge begin putting the team in serious danger. Diana Taverner is closely connected to the escalating conflict, while Sid Baker makes a surprising return after being believed dead since the first season. Gary Oldman and the familiar group of misfit MI5 agents return for another high-risk mission.
10. Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2 (Netflix)
The Hawkins Investigators Club has barely recovered from defeating the Horde Queen when strange new events begin disturbing the town again. As Valentine’s Day approaches, ghostly appearances and dangerous hate sprites raise fears that another opening to the Upside Down could be forming. The second and final season sends the animated spinoff into one more supernatural battle.
11. American Hostage (MGM+ via Prime Video)
In 1977, Tony Kiritsis enters an Indianapolis mortgage company and takes executive Richard Hall hostage using a shotgun wired dangerously around his neck. During the 63-hour standoff, Kiritsis demands live radio access and forms an unusual connection with reporter Fred Heckman, placing the journalist in a difficult moral situation. Jon Hamm and Giovanni Ribisi lead this drama based on the extraordinary real-life incident.
