According to reports, the release of the film The Kerala Story faced several hurdles with multiple shows getting canceled in the state. PVR Cinemas had scheduled screenings at Lulu Mall and Oberon Mall in Kochi, but these were abruptly canceled overnight. Similarly, Cinepolis also canceled its shows in the state, purportedly due to concerns over potential backlash and public outrage.

The controversial film has received mixed reviews, with some viewers applauding it for its bold take on social issues, while others criticize it for creating religious tensions and promoting fake narratives. Despite this, the film has gained support from some unexpected sources, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who voiced his support for the movie during a rally in Ballary. As per ANI, he said, “Over the last few years, a new and dangerous form of terrorism has emerged. You can hear bombs and guns, but there is no sound of the terror plot to destroy society from within. Even the court has expressed concern about this new form of terror.”

“The Kerala Story film is based on a similar terror conspiracy. There is a lot of talk about The Kerala Story these days. They say the film is based on terrorists’ nefarious plots for just one state. This film exposes terrorists’ designs for such a beautiful state with hardworking and talented people.” He continued, “It shows the ugly truth of terrorism. It is the misfortune of this country that Congress is opposing the film made on terrorism and standing with terror tendencies. Congress has shielded terrorism for the vote bank.”
