7 promises on Raksha Bandhan

As many of us are celebrating Rakshabandhan, it makes me wonder if any other country has a day to celebrate the bond of love between Brothers and Sisters.

A day dedicated to the custom where sister ties ‘Rakhi’ which represents the bond of love and asks her brother to take care of her in the form of ‘Raksha’.

On this Rakhi, I would request brothers to make these 7 promises to their sisters to show the society the strength of brother-sister bond:

Promise#1: Don’t let your parents sell your sisters in the name of dowry to the greedy beggars

Unfair Balance Of Dowry

Promise#2: When you see someone else’s sister being teased on the streets, please don’t shut your eyes. Leave the “Chalta Hai” attitude and protect them!

Eve Teasing Blind Society

Promise#3: When your sister comes back home because her husband physically abuses her, don’t send her back. Don’t be scared of “Log Kya Kahengey”.

Stop Domestic Violence

Promise#4: When mom & dad force her to get married because society is building pressure on them. Push your parents to spend money on her education rather than on her marriage

Marriage Or Education

Promise#5: Don’t let your parents differentiate between you and your sister. Demand equal treatment for your sister – Equal love, Equal education, and Equal independence

Sons & Daughters Equal

Promise#6: When you turn into a father, don’t kill your daughters in the womb

Don't Kill Daughters In Womb

Promise#7: Lastly, give up abusive words related to mothers or sisters – “Behen****” Or “Ma****” or “Motherf*****” Or “Sisterf*****”

Abuse - Give Up MC BC

Let’s make our brothers agree to these promises and build a safer and stronger nation for women. Happy Raksha Bandhan.
