As per WHO, One in four children in the age group of 13-15 years in India suffers from depression.

But we, Indian parents, shut our eyes to ignore the mental illness in our kids. Though Indian parents are one of the most dedicated parents, we struggle to understand why they choose to stay quiet as their kid suffers in depression all alone.

Recently, many parents were shaken when a class VIII student committed suicide in school toilet leaving behind a troubling suicide note. The suicide note was an ugly reminder for our society, who thought child depression wasn’t real.

Sadly, in India, our society tends to ignore the stress among young kids. Neither the schools nor the parents know how to help kids through these situations.

With an increasing number of kids suffering from depression, stress, and anxiety, it is more important than ever that our society, parents, and teachers need to focus on kids’ mental health.

Thankfully, a psychology teacher has come to students’ aid by compiling a list of 101 ways to cope with stress.

The list was shared by one of the students on Twitter, which contained simple fixes for moments of stress – like “smiling” and “hugging a dog”.

At I FOR HER, we are in awe of the psychology teacher who created this list to keep her students free of stress, anxiety, and depression.

We feel this list should be included in every school curriculum to help our kids.
