Have you ever been told:
You look good, but you’d look better if you lose some weight?
Or your waist is too small or too big?
Or that you are too skinny, too short, too small, too tall, too dark, too simple?
We have been ridiculed multiple times and we believe you have been too!
Women, more often than men, are the victims of society’s unrealistic expectation of ‘being perfect’. Many of us have been shamed in some form or the other.
And what is more heartbreaking is the fact that many times, it comes from people we know, people close to us – our parents, friends, partners & peers.
If you are one of us, who is tired of being body-shamed then you would love this post!
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan’s wife, Aesha Dhawan, is one of those self-made women, who have always defied the social norms to carve her own path. Being an amateur boxer, she is a huge fitness freak, who trains daily to keep herself fit.
But unlike other celebrity wives, she has rarely been seen all dressed-up. Rather you can spot Aesha with a cap and wearing her training gear no matter where she is.
After being asked multiple times about the secret behind the cap, Aesha took to Instagram to spill the beans.
She posted a few pictures on Instagram, explaining her fans, about why she is always wearing a cap or is in her training gear. And, after reading her response, we just couldn’t stop applauding her courage and thought-process.
She revealed that she prefers to spend very less time on dressing as she is quite busy with the activities related to her kids, home & business. Thus she prefers to be in her training clothes most of the time.
She stated that she hates wasting time on fixing her hair or dressing up and would rather utilize it in something more productive.
In her full post, she shared:
Many people ask me why I am always in my training gear or always wear a cap. I’ll finally answer.
I don’t waste time on unnecessary thinking or decision making I only put my effort into what I consider priority or of importance in life or even down to a day to day level.
I like fitness so I train every single day and after training I am with my family and growing my home which includes having meals as a family, me doing my own house work, cooking, cleaning, taking kids to school, doing activities, working on my business, looking after kids, playing with kids, making my videos for YouTube channel etc.
So for me I don’t waste time in dressing up or fixing my hair. That time is wasteful for me.
I rather do what is needed for my day and my personal life to be productive. I make my life wok for me as a parent and as an entrepreneur by choosing where I invest my time and my effort. And, I never feel overwhelmed due to this reason.
I mean at the end of the day there is only 24 hours that each individual gets and so I make it work for me.
Do you know that many of top business people who have shaped and changed our world like Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg they didn’t waste thought or energy or even time on things that were not of importance or on their decision making because it takes away from what their sharp minds need or needed to deal with.
And one more thing, if we all get a certain amount of energy to utilize through a whole day I value it so much that I am very aware of it’s importance so I focus on where I will use it.
My Energy Is My Currency!
After reading it, if you also feel that “Your Energy Is Your Currency” then you are on the right track.
We feel it is high time, that society should stop shaming and judging a woman for her choices. She should be allowed to spend her energy on the things matter to her!
P.S. If you are a person who loves dressing up and find it as a way to rejuvenate yourself, then please don’t get offended. We feel Aesha’s post addresses the society and its quick nature to judge people – What should we wear? What should we eat? How should we look?
