When it comes to stupidity, Bollywood is a real winner. From showcasing stupid characters are real heroes to promoting regressive and misogynist characters as leads, Bollywood has a huge problem with showcasing a smart character.
Here we list the stupidest characters, who would make anyone feel smarter:
1. Abhishek Bachchan’s Jai Dixit from the Dhoom series
Overconfident & incompetent cop that takes the help of an extremely stupid mechanic (Udai Chopra) to catch a gang of extraordinary criminals, but has an IQ lower than him. He catches zero criminals & his overconfidence and incompetence make him a laughing stock.
2. Anushka Sharma as Taani from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
The queen of stupidity – Taani is a character, who is unhappy in her marriage to slobby Suri. So, she starts having an extramarital affair with her slobby husband Suri but this time without the moustache. And, Taani is shown so stupid that she fails to recognise her own partner with and without a mere moustache. But what is even worse is that Taani actually falls for a man who is a total roadside Romeo.
3. Himani Shivpuri as Susheela in Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon
Not just regressive, Susheela is a problematic character that many sane people struggle to understand. When Susheela found out her daughter was heartbroken but hadn’t had sex with her heartbreaker, her reaction was–“Toh problem kya hai?” *Argh*
4. Kartik Aaryan’s Gogo from Pyaar Ka Punchnama
Gogo, is an idiot character, who thinks he’s really smart. Not just sexist, he treats his girlfriend like shit instead of an equal. And, how he proudly makes a thirty-page long rant about “women being parasites”, the second she gives it back to him. What a fool!
5. Amrish Puri as Vir Bhadra Singh in Khushi
In this plot-less movie, Vir Bhadra is a territorial psycho father to daughter, Lali, played by Kareena. He does a lot of stupid stuff. There is a point in this plot-less film when Amrish Puri screams, “E doctor ke bachche, teri himmat kaise hui meri beti ka khoon nikalne ki? Khoon wapas daal. Wapas dal. Jaldi kar!” Later, when she forges his signature, he laughs and says: “Ayeee, chorniii.” RIP our brains.
6. Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan as Karan and Sahiba in Dhai Akshar Prem Ke
This movie makes you wonder – who is stupider, the girl who takes a stranger home to pass him off as her husband, or the guy who actually agrees to it? Believe us, the two lead characters compete against each other for taking stupid decisions.
7. Everyone in Biwi No. 1
Seriously, everyone. Isn’t Pooja the real fool for striving so hard to take back her cheating husband? Is the husband the actual idiot for making up the stupidest lies about his loving wife and cheating on her? And, how Rupali the fool believed him?
8. All the dumbass students in Mohabbatein
Be it Jugal Hansraj or Jimmy Shergill, or Uday Chopra – they are dumbass characters who “rebel” against the strict school rules to get married. While their principal teaches these schoolchildren to focus on academics, they believe he should be considered tyrannical behaviour and deserves to be demonised.
