There have been many times our celebrities said or did things that left us embarrassed and shocked. In recent times, there have been many moments when we expected the celebrities to be sensible, but they said things that made us cringe!
Here are some awkward words that celebs said during the interview, which left us with second-hand embarrassment.
1. When Sonam Kapoor tried to say that people have a perception that only bad looking actors are good actors
2. When Sonakshi Sinha made a ridiculous statement that was outrageously ageist!
During Dabangg’s promotion, the actress was asked a question on how older actors pair with much younger female leads, whereas older women are not seen with younger men as love interests. While answering the question, Sonakshi said something that was quite embarrassing and disappointing! She said: “…but would you want to see a Madhuri Dixit romancing an Ishaan Khatter? That’s a bit odd..”
3. When Sonam Kapoor was roasted by Rajeev Masand as she questioned the movie critics’ intelligence!
This happened during Rajeev Masand’s show. He was in a ‘never have I ever’ round when he asked Sonam Kapoor – “Never have I ever read a review and wanted to punch the critic.” To which Sonam went to imply that a lot of critics are stupid and they have no idea about what they’re talking about. She asked Rajeev – “Don’t they have schools for critics?” And, to which Rajeev said – “I am sure they do, just like they have schools for acting and so many people don’t know!”
4. When Salman Khan compared himself with a raped woman and made a tone-deaf statement!
While talking about all the efforts that Salman had to put for Sultan, he said: “While shooting, during those six hours, there’d be so much of lifting and thrusting on the ground involved. That was tough for me because if I was lifting, I’d have to lift the same 120-kilo guy 10 times for 10 different angles. And likewise, get thrown that many times on the ground. When I used to walk out of the ring, after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn’t walk straight. I would eat and then, head right back to training. That couldn’t stop.”

5. When Ananya Pandey spoke about not being privileged.
In the very famous interview, Ananya Pandey shared how she was at a disadvantage because her father never worked in YRF films or been in shows like Koffee With Karan. In her words, she said: “My dad has never been in a Dharma film, he never went on Koffee With Karan. So it is not as easy as people say it is.”
6. When Rani Mukherji mentioned that teaching self-defense to young girls was the solution for crimes against women!
It is sad how even in the 21st century the onus of women’s safety lies on women’s shoulders. It is sad how we don’t feel the need to raise better men so that women can feel safe. Rather, we expect women to learn self-defense to protect themselves from dangerous men!
7. When Shahrukh Khan Didn’t ‘Want To Sound Feminist’
When Shahrukh Khan said words to appreciate Dear Zindagi: “I don’t want to sound pro-feminist and say that these girls have made a beautiful film, but they really have. I’ve always said that I enjoy making films with women.” No big deal, just another day of anti-feminism in B-Town!
8. When Sonam Kapoor shamelessly bragged about her dad’s connections!
When in front of an outsider, who struggled to achieve his dreams, Sonam Kapoor’s words about her dad’s connections made us cringe. While endlessly bragging about her father’s connections, she said: “My father told me to go assist Subhash Ghai or Vidhu Vinod Chopra and told me I’ll learn a lot and be protected there.”
Do these statements make you cringe too? Do let us know.
