Bollywood films are known for their grandeur, larger-than-life characters, and captivating storylines that keep the audience hooked till the end. However, what many people do not know is that several scenes get deleted during the editing process, which could have added more depth and meaning to the movie. These scenes often fall victim to time constraints, pacing issues, or creative differences between the filmmakers and the studio. In this article, we will discuss six such deleted scenes from Bollywood films that we wish had made it to the final cut. These scenes could have potentially changed the course of the movie and given a new perspective to the audience.
1. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Bunny Meeting Naina’s Mother
Do you know in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, there was a deleted scene where Bunny meets Naina’s mother before they go on a trip to explore Udaipur? The scene starts with Bunny assuming that Naina is taking a shower and flirting with her through the bathroom door, only to realize that it’s her mother inside. The exchange between Bunny and Naina’s mother is comedic gold, leaving the audience in splits. It’s so sad that this hilarious scene didn’t make it to the final cut!

2. Kal Ho Na Ho Deleted Scene: Aman actually reading Rohit’s diary
The iconic diary scene from Kal Ho Naa Ho had an alternate version. The deleted version had Aman reading the actual words from Rohit’s diary before proceeding with the blank pages. 3. Dear Zindagi Deleted Scene: Kaira Confronting A Desi Uncle
The deleted scene from Dear Zindagi showcases Kaira, the protagonist, confronting an entitled desi uncle and giving him a reality check. This scene highlights the problematic behavior of entitled passengers who claim ownership over everything and complain about even the slightest inconvenience. The generational difference portrayed in this scene adds to its relatability for millennials and Gen-Z viewers. It’s a perfect depiction of the frustrating encounters we often have to deal with in real life.
4. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: Lajo taking a stand for her daughter in front of Baldev
While watching DDLJ, many questioned why Lajo never took a stand for her daughter. Even though it wouldn’t have changed Baldev’s heart, it would have made more sense if she had tried at least once to convince him instead of abruptly asking the couple to flee for good. But do you know, there was a deleted scene where Lajo actually tries to convince her husband? It’s a shame the scene couldn’t make it to the final cut.
5. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: Movie To Begin With Rani Mukherjee’s God Bharayi
As we’re all aware, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai begins with Tina’s unexpected demise. However, what many people don’t know is that the movie wasn’t supposed to begin with this tragic event. Instead, there was a god-bharayi scene that depicted a stressed Tina dealing with delivery complications while her family celebrated the arrival of the baby. Years after the movie’s success, Karan Johar revealed that he removed the god-bharayi scene from the film based on Aditya Chopra’s recommendation.
6. Highway: Alia Bhatt Contemplating Her Freedom From Suffocating Family

8. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham: Conversation Between Rahul & Rohan On Their Father’s Birthday
In recent times, Dharma Productions has gifted us with some amazing deleted scenes from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. And, one of our favorites is the emotional exchange between Rahul and Rohan on their dad’s birthday. Rahul shows Rohan a picture of his father, not realizing that they’re actually brothers. The scene was unfortunately cut because KJo didn’t want it to overshadow the iconic bench scene that followed shortly after. Nonetheless, it’s a touching moment that showcases the bond between the two brothers and makes you wish it made it to the final cut.
