As our favorite Bollywood actress is turning 35, we are here to celebrate it with her inspiring yet hard-hitting Thappad dialogues.
It is quite heartbreaking how there has been a drastic increase in cases of domestic violence in recent times. But, what leaves us even sadder is how our society raises daughters to either suffer the abuse in silence or expect it as a part of love.
This was so beautifully captured in Taapsee Pannu’s movie Thappad. It was one long-awaited slap to all the regressive Indian men and their ongoing casual sexism in Indian marriages. The movie not only sheds light on how Indian men feel entitled to slap their wives in a fit of rage but also on society how it acts like it’s normal for a husband to hit his wife.
Exposing the patriarchal mindset, the movie shows how at every step the abuse survivor is told to be tolerant of domestic violence. With the hard-hitting storyline and the jolting dialogues, it is a lesson for our society to not disparage women’s honor and dignity.
If you haven’t watched the film yet, these hard-hitting dialogues will compel you to catch it on Amazon Prime. Here are some selected Thappad dialogues, that will remind the long-lasting impression that they left on us. Take a look.
