In a world where extravagant weddings often steal the spotlight, the story of actress Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol Sood stands as a refreshing example. While many couples spend exorbitant amounts of money on their big day, Amrita and Anmol chose to set a new trend by embracing simplicity and prioritizing love over lavishness.
Their decision to keep their wedding expenses at a minimum speaks volumes about their values and beliefs. While others indulge in grand venues, designer outfits, and elaborate decorations, Amrita and Anmol opted for a modest celebration that focused on the essence of their union. Their choice challenges the notion that a wedding must be defined by materialistic displays and extravagant spending.
Amrita Rao and Anmol Sood, who tied the knot in 2014, recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary, shedding light on the cost of their discreet marriage. In a travel vlog shared on their YouTube channel, Couple Of Things, the couple revealed how they managed to keep their wedding budget minimal. Anmol fondly recalled that their entire wedding expenditure amounted to a mere ₹1.5 lakh.
Amrita Rao, known for her role in the film Vivah, also reflected on her wedding attire, emphasizing her desire to embrace traditional elements on their big day. In the vlog, she shared that she didn’t splurge on an extravagant wedding outfit. Instead, she opted for a budget-friendly option, disclosing that her wedding saree cost only ₹3000.
“My saree’s cost was ₹3000…It was a typical, red, traditional (saree). I wanted to wear a traditional outfit. I didn’t want to wear designer clothes,” the Vivah actress said.
She further shared how she spent a minimal amount on her mangal sutra, unlike most people. Speaking about her jewels, she recalled, “I wore artificial jewellery. Breaking news. Amrita Rao ka mangal sutra tha only ₹18,000. Woh meri choice ka mangal sutra tha, bahot saste mein patt gaye the janaab.“
The couple tied the knot at ISKCON Temple in Pune on May 15, 2014, and the cost of their venue was just ₹11,000. Wow!
While sharing her views with TOI, she said, “We have always believed that marriage is love. Money is not a showpiece. We only wanted our family and close friends to be at our wedding… We didn’t spend much on the wedding and we enjoyed it,”
Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol Sood have set a benchmark for couples who wish to prioritize the significance of their relationship over material possessions. Their story serves as a reminder that the true essence of a wedding lies in the love shared between two individuals, rather than the size of the event or the amount of money spent. Their unique approach challenges societal norms and encourages couples to create their own narrative, one that is authentic, meaningful, and focused on what truly matters – love, togetherness, and the beginning of a beautiful journey as partners for life.
