As a country, we are blessed to have so many heroic souls, who are brave and brilliant. Some of these brilliant personalities put our country on the global map and some fought against the enemies to keep our country and society safe. And, we feel It’d be great to see biopics made on these people as well.

1. PV Sindhu

From being the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal to winning silver in Women’s singles at the Commonwealth Games to breaking into the top 20 of the BWF World Ranking at the young age of 17, PV Sindhu definitely deserves a biopic!

2. Barun Biswas

This Bengali school teacher and social activist in Sutia, West Bengal is a fearless hero. He fought against a local gang that was using rapes to terrorize the people of his village. While he managed to get them arrested, he was shot later by certain members of the gang who got bail.

3. Satyajit Ray

Though Satyajit Ray introduced Indian cinema to the world, there is no movie based on his own life. Satyajit’s father passed when he was three, and the family actually grew up in dire financial straits. To see his journey from a child to the country’s most illustrious filmmaker would truly be a pleasure.

4. Kalpana Chawla

Kalpana Chawla is one of the most celebrated astronauts around the world of Indian origin. There have been various reports about a biopic on Kalpana Chawla being made, but nothing fruitful has happened over the years.

5. Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman

After the horrific Pulwama terror attack, India and Pakistan entered into a violent skirmish. During this time, the Pakistan army captured Wing Commander (Group Captain now) Abhinandan. But during 60-hour long captivity, he showed a calm demeanor and continued strength and courage.

6. Falguni Nayar

Starting at age of 50, Falguni Nayar set up her own venture Nykaa and through her hard work and determination became India’s richest self-made woman billionaire.

7. Yogendra Singh Yadav

He was just 19 years old when this army man received the Param Vir Chakra. Being the youngest person to receive the honor, he was lauded for his efforts during the 1999 Kargil War. During the war, he was hit by 14 bullets but still managed to capture Tiger Hill and neutralize 8 enemy soldiers.

8. Hima Das

Daughter of a rice farmer from Assam, Hima Das was only 18-years-old when she scripted the history for India by winning its first gold at a global track event. But this journey of Hima Das has been an extremely difficult yet inspiring journey.

9. Satyanendra Bose

Born in 1894, this Indian physicist worked with Albert Einstein to provide the foundation for Bose–Einstein statistics and the theory of the Bose–Einstein condensate, at a time when it was extremely difficult for Indians to achieve this level of success. He received the Padma Vibhushan for his work in physics.

10. Bhaichung Bhutia

Known as the torchbearer of Indian football, Bhaichung Bhutia’s parents were farmers. He lost his father at a very young age. But, he fought for his dream of becoming a footballer and received a football scholarship at the age of 9.

11. Sindhutai Sapkal

Known as Mother of Orphans or Mai, Sindhutai Sapkal is an inspiration. Married early at the age of 12 and a victim of domestic violence, it was while living as a homeless person and begging at railway stations that she saw many children who were abandoned by their family members. That is when she decided to take care of orphans. She also received the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2017 and the Social Worker of the Year award from the Wockhardt Foundation in 2016, among many others. Even though she isn’t among us anymore but her story deserves to be told.

12. Saalumarada Thimmakka

Popularly known as the Mother of Trees, 107-year-old Thimmakka has emerged to become one of the most prominent environmentalists from Karnataka. In her 40s, Saalumarada Thimmakka had hit a dark phase when she wanted to end her life for not being able to conceive. But, with the support of her husband, she found solace in planting trees. The couple loved and cared for the trees like their own children, and their family increased from 10 to almost 8,000 trees.
