Real Achievers are not the product of their circumstances, but rather the product of their decisions.
And, one such achiever is Rekha V.
A resident of Kotturu village in Karnataka, Rekha wasn’t ready to give up on her big dreams because of her circumstances. So, when she was forced to get married at the age of 16, she did what many girls in India lack the courage for.
She packed her bags and ran away from home to oppose her marriage at such a young age. She moved to Bangalore with a friend and rented a PG in Hebbal and joined a computer course at a private institute there.
But she wasn’t satisfied with her life and wanted to pursue bigger dreams!
It was then, she called up the Child Helpline and sought help from the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Thanks to the support of the committee, Rekha was shifted to Sparsha Trust in Mathikere. They also helped her secure a seat in Government PU College.
Determined to become an IAS officer, Rekha worked really hard for two years. And finally, when she appeared for II PU examination this year, life didn’t disappoint her.
Rekha passed the exams with flying colors and scored 542 out of 600 marks that’s 90.3% with a centum in history.
Now, before becoming IAS she aspires to become an advocate first.
While sharing her goal, Rekha told TOI,
“I lost my father when I was a kid. I left the house as I was against child marriage and wanted to continue my studies.
Now, I have a clear goal in life. I want to become an advocate first and then appear for the civil services examination,”
