Many people let go of their dreams because they believe they are too old to learn. It could be about starting a new career or learning a new hobby. But a few bold women are not letting their age define their life.
Last year, Karthyayani Amma, a 96-year-old woman from Kerala was applauded for her determination as she became the oldest person ever to enroll in the Kerala Literacy Mission and scoring 98% marks.
And now another brave woman, a 105-year-old grandmother from Kerala, Bhageerathi Amma, has broken her record and has become the oldest learner in the state.
As per NDTV, Bhageerathi created history as she appeared for the 4th standard equivalency examination on Tuesday, 19th November.
Bhageerathi’s inspiring story has touched the hearts of many people. They are applauding the courage of this 105-year old, who has shown to the world that age is just a number.
Bhageerathi was only 9 years old when she had to quit her education to take care of her younger siblings. And, when she was in her mid-30s, she lost her husband. Again, she was left alone to take up the responsibility of 4 daughters and 2 sons.
But none of her hardships could kill her eagerness and desire to study. So, when the officials of the Kerala Literacy Mission reached out to her, she showed a lot of eagerness to study.
Her determination and persistence could inspire many more women to believe in their dreams and not give up just because of their age. Because Amma has proven that Dreams don’t come with an expiry date.
