In an inspiring story, 40-year-old Asha Kandara, a sanitation worker, cleared the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) examination, 2018, the results of which got delayed and were declared on July 13, 2021.
Asha Kandara, who is a single mother of two, has shown the world how hard work and determination does pay off when they meet with the right opportunities!
While sharing her inspiring story, Asha mentioned to PTI – “I had to go through a lot from a broken marriage, caste discrimination to gender bias. But I never let myself drown in sorrow and instead decided to fight back.”
Unlike many, Asha Kandara refused to be broken after she separated from her husband. Asha decided to continue her education. And, in 2017, she completed her graduation.
While she was working hard to create a life of dignity, she lived with her father, who also worked at the Jodhpur Municipal Corporation. Asha always dreamed about being financially independent and bringing up her children on her own.
While sharing details of her struggle, she mentioned: “I appeared for the exam for a sweeper for Jodhpur Municipal Corporation in 2018 and passed it.”
Along working as a sweeper, she started preparing for the RAS exam. When she cleared her preliminary exams in August 2018, she was encouraged to prepare for the final exams. And, her hardwork paid off when she cleared both the exams. She felt so proud when her effort was celebrated by the senior officials during her felicitation event.
Summarizing her purpose, she added: Â “I want to work for bringing justice to society as an administrative officer. My endeavour is not just for my community, but for every victim of injustice.” Post her clearing the Rajasthan Administrative Service Examination, she will be given the position of a Deputy Collector.
At IFORHER, we are in awe of this inspiring woman and we hope her courage and determination will inspire many to fight their circumstances and create a life of dignity.
