As we are praying for Australia to fight courageously against the Australian bushfire, we have a heartbreaking incident to share. A 19-month-old son received a bravery medal on his father’s behalf, who lost his life battling the bush fires.
While Australia is battling with one of the most heartbreaking natural tragedies, almost half a billion animals are estimated to be dead as their natural habitat has been destroyed by the fires.
There have been several heart-wrenching images that have been come up to show how dreadful the tragedy is. The images of the sky turning orange covered with massive smoke and,
burnt baby Kangaroo trying to escape the fire, and
baby Koala asking for water from the firefighters and many more.
But, now another heartbreaking image has come up that would leave you teary-eyed.
In one of the rescue mission, a 32-year-old firefighter, Geoffrey Keaton lost his life while battling the bush fires. During the rescue operation, a blazing tree fell on top of his vehicle, causing it to overturn. And this incident that happened a month back, took the lives of him and colleague, Andrew O’Dwyer, reports BBC.
To honor the two firefighters, recently the New South Wales Rural Fire Service organized a prestigious funeral service. The funeral was attended by Keaton’s wife and his 19-month-old son.
A ceremony was also organized to award the bravery of the two officials. During the ceremony, Geoffrey’s 19-month-old son, Harvey Keaton, received the medal on his father’s behalf. As per The Indian Express, the kid was wearing a mini version of a firefighter’s uniform and sucking on a pacifier while he receives the medal.
This little guy showed so much courage as he paid the last respect to his father’s coffin, along with his mother. Along with a bunch of flowers, there lay on the coffin a printed coffee mug saying, “Daddy, I love you to the moon and back!”
The New South Wales Rural Fire Service took to Facebook to post pictures of the service. Have a look:
At IFORHER, we are proud of this little brave kid. But we couldn’t stop feeling heartbroken as he lost his brave father at such a young age. May his brave father rest in peace and hope Australia will be saved soon from the wrath of angry nature.
