How many times have you seen parents taking their house help to public places and then making them sit separately or eat separate food? A lot of times, isn’t it?
It is heartbreaking how so many people, without any shame, disrespect their house help. From making them eat in different utensils, to making them sit on the floor while the whole family sits on the furniture is so common. And, what makes it even sadder is the fact how many choose to turn a blind eye to the whole situation.
Thankfully, recently, Harssh Kedia, a famous chef, who has been featured in Forbes and Hindustan Times, took to Instagram to share an important message. He asked people to stop taking their house helps to public places like restaurants, airports, cafes, etc. if they can’t treat them with respect.

While sharing the powerful message, he mentioned: “Please stop bringing your help to restaurants, cafes, airports, railway stations, if you can’t have them sit with you, if you’re not going to offer them the same food you eat at the table, if you can’t be courteous. The same help takes care of you, your kids, and your sh*t, bears the brunt of everything you do,” he wrote.
He further revealed that he was at the airport when he saw a family eating at a food joint while the help kept standing.
“I’m at an airport where a nanny/help stands while her ‘family’ sits and eats. They don’t offer her any food or even a chair to sit on. It’s a shame! I did get up and give her my chair, hoping the family would acknowledge and understand how they are really wrong, but they turned away and continued to eat their expensive airport food.”

At IFORHER, we are disgusted how some people treat those who take care of them and their families disrespectfully! We do believe that as a society, we need to do better! What do you think?
