While media was focusing on the Ambani wedding, there was another wedding happening at a mass marriage ceremony, which stole people’s heart.

This story of this wedding is so positive & inspiring that it will definitely bring a smile on your face.

In a country, where many young girls are raised with only one objective of getting married, this young bride from Maharashtra is earning praises for her commitment towards her education.

She appeared for her class XII Economics paper on her wedding day. And, while she was writing her exam, her groom waited at the wedding hall.

The Class XII student is 20-year-old Renuka Pawar belongs to a poor family residing in a small village, Harsul, in Maharashtra.

She was expected to marry Shankar on Saturday at a mass marriage ceremony. But, she had her Class XII exams on the very same day.

Unlike many other girls, she decided not to prioritise her marriage over her education.

While facing hard times after the death of her father, Renuka had realized how education was important. And she worked really hard to ensure there was no setback in her education.

Hence, she insisted that the marriage to be scheduled in such a way that it did not clash with her examination time.

As she entered the wedding hall, the people couldn’t resist applauding her courage after hearing the reason for her absence since morning and the hurried entry.

And sometime later, the bride and groom tied the knot along with two other couples at the ceremony.

At IForHer, we feel as a society we shouldn’t only applaud the courage of  Renuka but also the courage of the groom, who stood by her throughout this tough decision.

The narrative about women empowerment won’t change till women and men both come together to own the narrative. Real heroes like Renuka and Shankar make us believe that this will happen really soon.
