Love stories are special but some love stories are not only special but immortal.
One such special loves story is that of Martyr Nazir Wani and Mahajabeen!
As we all know Nazir Wani martyred almost one-and-a-half months ago when he lost his life in an anti-terror operation in Shopian.
To award Wani’s bravery, the county has awarded him the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award.
It’s not only Nazir Wani’s sacrifice but also Mahajabeen’s commitment to their love and marriage that makes their story so special.
In conversation with PTI, Mahajabeen, a teacher and mother of two shared her feelings. She believed even though her husband might not be with her in person, but his fearless persona will constantly guide and motivate her.
“He loved me so much. For me, he was my guiding light. He always encouraged all of us to make people around us happy, to resolve people’s problems.”
“As a teacher, I am dedicating myself to creating good citizens for my state. Leading the young minds in the right direction is my resolve and I am drawing inspiration for it from my beloved husband – the best in the world,”
It was 15 years back when Mahajabeen and Late Nazir Ahmad Wani fell in love. It was love at first sight when they met at a school in South Kashmir.
In an interview with PTI, while sharing the details about 25th November – the fateful day when the shocking news came, Mahajabeen said:
“He had telephoned me the previous evening and enquired about our well-being. I had told him to take care of himself. But destiny had something else for him”
“He always wanted to make his 162/TA Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry battalion proud. For him, duty was supreme. He was a source of inspiration for people in our area and community”
But, when she shared how she refused to cry about her loss, one couldn’t stop admiring the strong and determined Mahajabeen:
“I did not cry when I was told he is no more. There was an inner resolve which did not allow me to cry”
Even though she has lost the person she loved the most, she realizes the significance of her husband’s sacrifice.
She definitely knows her Nazir wasn’t any less than a HERO, and she wants to carry forward his legacy.
We salute the real-life heroes, who not only show us how real love understands the value of sacrifice but also stays with you till eternity!
