But in such tormenting times, we are blessed to have frontline workers and people like K Kamalathal.
K Kamalathal is an 85-year-old woman from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She is famous for selling homemade idlis for Re 1 to the poor and needy.
At an age when many retire, this brave and inspiring soul continues to work every day. She wakes up before the break of dawn to provide fresh yummy idlis to her customers. Most of her customers are dependent on her for their daily meals as she charges them a minimal amount.
It is inspiring how Kamalathal is working for the last 30 years. But she never increased the prices of her food. Her motto is simple – she wants to help the poor and needy.

According to an India Today report, the 85-year-old said,
“The situation is a little difficult since Covid-19 started, but I am trying to provide idlis for Re 1 to the poor. I won’t raise the rate but prices of ingredients are rising.”
Not focusing on her own profits, this Coronawarrior is setting an example for mankind to come forward and support each other, especially the underprivileged and vulnerable ones. As Kamalathal is saving lives of people around her, that’s exactly what heroes look like.
