Do you know how important is the sanctity of a Turban for a Sikh?
For any Sikh, the turban is the symbol of his faith and of belief. But, this 20-year-old boy, Manjeet Singh feels no faith or belief is more important than the life of a fellow human.
Hence when he saw an injured Muslim woman, he took off his turban and turned it into a band-aid.
When a lady was hit by a truck near Awantipora, she started bleeding. In order to save the life of a woman, Manjeet turned his turban into a band-aid to help a bleeding woman from losing too much blood.
As per KashmirLife, a 45-year-old woman was hit by a speeding truck in Awantipora leaving her injured. Her leg was badly profusing blood and the truck sped away after hitting her.
While passersby just watched Manjeet came to the rescue,
“I saw her lying on the road, with blood coming out of her leg. And, I could not resist using my own turban to plug the wound. I did what anyone else in my place would have done.”
What makes Manjeet a real hero is that his selfless character is not marred by his difficult circumstances.
His father Karnail Singh was a daily wager in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST). But, when he passed away, Manjeet was recruited in his place as a daily-wager.
Being a sole breadwinner for his family, Manjeet has a handicapped mother, sister and elder brother to take care of at home.
He further shared his hardships:
“My father remained a daily-wager through-out his 25 years of service. But I was promised that I will be inducted as a permanent staffer. But so far that promise has not been fulfilled. All I want is a permanent job so that I can feed my family properly.”
In an era where both religious hatred and crime against women are exponentially increasing, there are very few good men like Manjeet. We hope more and more people would learn from Manjeet to keep humanity above anything else.
