While many of us crib about our circumstances, there are many who beat their circumstances to fight for their dreams. One such inspiring soul is Pooja Rani.
It is quite encouraging how Pooja Rani, a migrant worker’s daughter, scored 80.4% marks in Class X examinations of the Haryana Board of School Education.
As per The Times Of India, Pooja Rani lives with her parents and three sisters in a 10×10 tin shed on a footpath of an upscale Rohtak colony. But, none of her challenges stopped her from fulfilling her dream to create a life of dignity for herself and her family. While talking to media about her struggle, she shared:
“Five years ago, I started my education from ‘Gandhi school’ – then an informal school under a streetlight – where scores of children of migrant labourers get an education,”Â
While expressing her feelings and how she has made her mother proud, Pooja further added:
“I am proud to announce today that I secured more than 80% marks and my parents are on the top of the world with joy, especially my mother who has to do odd chores like sweeping, cleaning to support the education of four daughters,”Â
Pooja’s father, Kailash Kumar, hails from Madhya Pradesh. He is a daily wager and Pooja’s mother works as a part-time cleaner in many houses. Her father applauding the courage of his daughters, said:
“My daughters have found their lives in books,”
In the future, Pooja dreams to become a teacher so that she can teach children like her who belong to families of migrant workers.
“If I can achieve this, then children of other migrant labourers can also do so provided they get timely help as I got at ‘Gandhi school’,”Â
Applauding the achievement of Pooja, Union Human Resource Development Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted,
“Pooja Rani, daughter of a migrant worker, scored 80.4% marks in Class X exams of HBSE. Living in a 10×10 tin shed on a footpath with her family, the girl has proved that nothing is impossible. Pooja, you are an inspiration for all of us!”

A few days back, Bharti, the daughter of a daily wage laborer, who lived on the footpath with her parents and two brothers, secured 68% in Class X. Impressed by her determination, the Municipal Corporation in the city has gifted the bright student a flat, ANI reported.
At IFORHER, we are in awe of these inspiring young girls, who are beating all odds to fight for her education and dream. These inspiring souls give us hope about the future – a better-educated society with strong & independent women. We want to thank these courageous souls for inspiring many young girls that if they can, the others can do it too!
