Some stories touch your heart and soul so deeply that you can’t stop yourself from believing that REAL HEROES still exist.
And, one such story is that of an inspiring MOM Silvia Grecco and her son Nickollas.
People might see Nickollas as a kid, who is visually impaired and autistic, but to her mother, he is a STAR, who is trying to make the best out of his life despite his unfortunate challenges.
Last year, Nickollas and his mother became celebrities and drew a lot of attention.
Silvia, a football fan herself, was spotted on TV last year narrating her favourite team’s (Palmeiras) football matches live to her visually impaired and autistic son.
This scene made many people teary-eyed, and it gave many of us a ray of hope that our challenges don’t limit us in living life to the fullest.
During a recent football match, the mom shared how she won’t even miss the tiniest of details to make sure her son doesn’t miss a thing about the game:Â
“I describe details: this player is wearing short sleeves, the color of their football boots, hair color,”Â
And during the match, there were some magical moments.
The moments when Nickollas would jump up and down along with thousands of other fans at the same time, makes you wonder how magically his mother took away all his challenges and gave him a perfect fan day.
The mother further added:Â
“My narrating is something of my emotions. I’m not a professional. Everything I see and feel, I tell him, even when I need to curse the referee!”
Though Grecco mother wanted to turn Nichollas into a Palmeiras fan, as she was scared of being outnumbered by Father-sister duo who supported other teams, one can’t deny a deeper reason why she wanted to do it.
As a true football fan, she wanted to make her son experience how the love of football makes you feel. She felt her son had a right to feel so – irrespective of his challenges.
But, Silvia is not alone.Â
Recently, I FOR HER shared the story of Ritika Garg, who is striving to make life beautiful for her daughter, who is suffering from Brittle Bone Disease.
We know parenting is tough.
But, it is definitely tougher for parents with kids who have a disability. And for those parents, moms like Silvia and Ritika are not only a ray of hope but also an inspiration.
Silvia is trying so hard to not let disability come in the way of her kid’s fun and happiness. And, believe us it’s not an easy job!
We wish we have more mothers like Silvia and Ritika come forward to break the stereotypes around disability and make the world open to accept it.
