No one would deny how we are living in unprecedented times. As our country struggles with the COVID pandemic, there are some brave corona-warriors, who are coming forward to help the country fight and win this battle.
One such corona-warrior recently touched the hearts of so many is the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Shilpa Sahu. Even though she is pregnant at the moment, she felt the dire need to come for duty and remind people to follow the lockdown guidelines, and protect others from this deadly disease.
Recently, a video of the official DSP Shilpa Sahu appealing to people to follow the lockdown guidelines went viral. In this clip, she is working under the scorching summer sun and carrying out her duties with other police officials.
In the video, the pregnant officer wearing a protective shield is standing on the road with a lathi in her hand. She monitors citizens who are moving around on the street and instructing them to go back home and follow all necessary safety protocols. As she enquires people where they were headed, she made sure that everyone follows social distancing norms. As per the sources, DSP Sahu is posted in the Maoist affected town, Dantewada of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh.
This video is an important lesson for those who are stepping out of their home unnecessarily. It should make such people understand how our heroic frontline workers are putting their lives at risk every day – for the safety of this nation during this pandemic’s second wave.
In an interview with India Today, Shilpa revealed that she isn’t having any problems physically while she is on duty, even as she is moving towards the advanced stages of pregnancy. She further claimed that she is following every guideline there is to follow to ensure both she and her baby are in perfect health.
“I want to take care of the citizens just as I am taking care of myself and the baby,” she said.
India on Wednesday, India registered 2,95,041 new Covid-19 cases. India also registered the highest-ever single-day spike in Covid-related deaths with 2,023 deaths. In tough times like these, it is heart-breaking how people’s careless attitude is putting not only their lives but also the lives of their families at risk.
At IFORHER, we salute the corona-warriors, who are going beyond their responsibilities to save lives. We also hope people would realize how their careless attitude is putting so many at risk!
