Tough circumstances reveal the best and the worst in us. While there are many who are hoarding the oxygen cylinders and medicines, this 85-year-old gave up his hospital bed to save the life of a 40-year-old stranger.
As per the sources, despite dipping oxygen levels, 85-year-old Narayan Dabhalkar went against the medical advice of his doctors and opted for a discharge after he saw a woman pleading to get her 40-year-old husband admitted to the hospital.
As per IndiaToday, the 85-year-old reportedly told the doctors, “I am 85. I have lived my life. Saving the life of a young man is more important. Their children are young…please give my bed to them.”
Shefali Vaidya took to Twitter to share the inspiring story of 85-year-old Narayan Dabhadkar, and how he saved the life of a 40-year-old by sacrificing his own.
#thread Heard a real life story that made me speechless. 85 year old @RSSorg swayamsevak for life, Narayan Dabhadkar from Nagpur caught covid. His daughter tried for days to get him a hospital bed, finally got one at Indira Gandhi hospital. By this time, his O2 levels had dropped

Dabhadkar kaka made a spot decision and told the medical team attending to him calmly, ‘I am 85 now, have lived my life, you should offer the bed to this man instead, his children need him’. He then made his grandson-in-law call his daughter and informed her of his decision.

After some hesitation, she accepted his decision. Dabhadkar kaka signed the consent form saying he was forfeiting the bed in for the young man and returned home. He died 3 days later! Once a Sangh swayamsevak, always a swayamsevak! #truestory told by @shivanidanibjym

While many hailed him as hero, there were many netizens who came forward to express their anger on how a man has to pay the price of the failure of our authorities.
Older people deserve to live too.
while what he did was noble …he shouldn’t have had to pay the price for the state napping.
Om Shanti ????

This is just so heartbreaking. How is this system failure being glorified? No one *needs* to sacrifice if the govt only did their job.
