Recently a beautifully designed visiting card went viral on social media for all the right reasons. The fact that this was a domestic help’s visiting card that mentioned the details of the services that she provides touched hearts of many.
A picture of the visiting card was shared by Yashwant Deshmukh, who mentioned,
“Received this as a forward on multiple WhatsApp group, mostly with funny comments. But I found this really nice and progressive. This is serious work which deserves serious appreciation from all of us. So here is a toast to Geeta Kale Ji. More power to you, Ma’am.”

As per Pune Times, when our heroic Dhanashree Shinde returned home after work, she found her domestic helper, Geeta Kale, sad & disheartened. She had lost one of her jobs, which meant financial crunch for the family. Disappointed Geeta told Shinde:
“I don’t know what to do next but I will start looking for new work”
While Geeta was working in the kitchen, Shinde browsed on her phone and came up with a fabulous idea of making a visiting card for her. Sharing the details, Shinde recalled:
“I called her from the kitchen and asked her to sit beside me to note down the rates of her household chores. In the next two minutes, the card design was ready. To it, I added a small line saying ‘Aadhaar Card verified’ to let people gain confidence in her. I place the order for 100 cards and we received a bunch of cards after two days. I gave her the cards and asked her to distribute it to a few watchmen of nearby societies,”
She further added:
“The next day, when Geeta maushi came to work, she was on a call, speaking to someone from Mumbai. That was just the beginning. On the same day, I saw the visiting card photo on Twitter, Facebook and some had even shared it on WhatsApp groups. I tried calling Geeta maushi after that but her phone was switched off. When I called her husband, he said that they had been flooded with phone calls and Geeta had switched off her phone.”
Recalling how finally her objective was met, Shinde shared:
“I genuinely wanted her to get new work through the cards and instead it ended up going viral. Of course she did receive calls from Bavdhan and has fixed a few appointments in the coming days to start her new work.’’
At IFORHER, we applaud the kind and progressive act of Dhanashree Shinde, who has gone out of her comfort zone to support her maid in the testing times. We wish more people to seek inspiration from Dhanashree Shinde and come forward to support women in need.
