On Independence day, as we are busy in sending across Happy Independence messages to our friends and relatives, our kids are still struggling for their safety. When we see that they are in danger in their own house, it makes us wonder how free we really are?
When this 15-year-old brave girl saw her own father attempting to rape her 4-yo relative, she sprung into action without a single thought.
She not only rescued the baby girl from the clutches of her devil father but also got him arrested.
As per HT, the horrific incident happened in Birsa Basti when the man’s daughter caught him attempting to rape a minor girl.
In order to rescue her sister, she dragged the 4-year-old out of the room and locked her dad inside the room.
This brave girl then informed the local Anganwadi sevika in no time.
Post which, the local Anganwadi Sevika dialed the Adarsh Seva Sansthan childline in Sonari and the case was taken up by the Police Station.
As the brave daughter began screaming, the neighbors started flanking the house and beat up the man. The neighbors subsequently took the accused to the childline.
The accused, who is a father of two children — a son and a daughter, is under arrest now. As per Naresh Sinha, the police officer-in-charge:
“We have arrested Suresh Bodra and sent him to jail under section 376 and 4/6 of the POCSO Act. An FIR has been lodged on the basis of a complaint by survivor’s maternal aunt and East Singhbhum child welfare committee (CWC). The survivor’s medical tests have also been done,”
Alok Bhaskar, a CWC member, said,
“The childline informed us and we took up the case with Soanri PS after which Bodra was arrested. Survivor’s statement under section 164 of CrPc will be recorded on Tuesday as the court is closed till Monday.”
The four-year-old survivor had come to her maternal grandmother’s house where she was allegedly lured by the accused with chocolates.
As per the police official, the accused is alcoholic and this isn’t the first time he has done this heinous act:
“The locals have complained that he has done similar acts with neighboring women earlier also. They were about to thrash him, but he was rescued from the mob on time,”
We are disheartened by the degrading DNA of our society. When not only women but also kids find themselves unsafe, we couldn’t stop ourselves but wonder:
How could we call ourselves civilized if our kids don’t feel safe? How could we call our girls free if there is a danger lurking at them at every nook and corner?
But we are excited about how our daughters are becoming stronger than ever. This brave girl doesn’t only give us a reason to smile this independence day but also gives us hope for a brighter future.
