When the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, many women, men, kids, families saw their dreams and future being shattered. Many scared citizens made desperate attempts to flee the country after the Taliban took over Kabul’s Presidential Palace this week. With their control over Kabul, they announced to the world that they are here to stay.
Many videos of Afghans trying hard to escape their fate under Taliban surfaced over the internet. These videos captured the scenes of panic, fear and chaos at the airport and at border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Recently, one such heartbreaking video emerged over the internet where parents are seen passing their baby to the front of the queue at Kabul International Airport. These helpless parents’ attempts to give their children a better chance of leaving Afghanistan broke hearts and left many teary-eyed!
Shared by Instagram user Rustam Wahab, the video showed the heart-breaking reality of how parents were willing to part ways with their child at Hamid Karzai Airport and got others to pass the baby down the line to the front. He captioned it “People are so desperate to escape the T-ban that they’re passing babies and kids forward to the gate at Kabul airport.”

While the crowd passes the baby to the front of the queue, the baby kept crying for leaving behind the parents!
One Para officer told The Independent:
“The mothers were desperate, they were getting beaten by the Taliban. “They shouted, ‘Save my baby’ and threw the children at us. Some of the babies fell on the barbed wire. It was awful what happened. “By the end of the night, there was not one man among us who was not crying.”
Similar displays were played out at another part of the airport where US troops were on duty.

Recently, a video also showed how desperate people, who clung to the aeroplane wheels, lost lives as they fell off the aircraft after it took off.

Apocalyptic scenes at the Kabul International Airport, Afghan people are running along a U.S Aircraft and hanging onto its wings.
They are desperate to leave #Afghanistanpic.twitter.com/025jlDFBxy
The image of C-17 Globemaster, with a callsign Reach 871, was carrying some 640 Afghans, reportedly more than five times its suggested load.
A haunting photo of 640 Afghan refugees who ran on to a US military plane, desperate to escape. The plane’s capacity is only 150. The military kept the refugees on the plane & took them to Qatar.

The US must cut red tape & accept all Afghan refugees created by this US led war. pic.twitter.com/tLT96JEhgY
Though the Taliban has promised a ‘safe passage’ for people leaving the country, however, the reports of women and children passing through checkpoints being beaten by militants have recently surfaced. Though the US military controls the Kabul airfield in Kabul, the Taliban controls the roads to get there.
The agony, despair, disappointment and shattered dreams of Afghan people has left us heartbroken. How women, kids and families are living under constant fear shows the terrible reality of many people struggling for their future. While we pray for strength and courage, we hope life would be sympathetic to these Afghan souls in coming times!
