No one can deny that in the 21st century, there is still a stigma attached to women for divorcing their husbands. Labeling them as failure or problematic, these women have to face social ridicule, shame, judgment, and isolation.
Recently, one such woman on Reddit shared how she was scared of society’s judgment as she was getting divorced for the second time. But, other women came to her rescue and gave her the most valuable advice.
The woman said how she wished to “hideaway forever” as she didn’t want to “deal with the shame”. Have a look at her post here:
Thankfully, many women came forward to share heartwarming reasons why she didn’t have any reason to feel ashamed. They hailed her as a hero for trying to find happiness for herself. These reactions are the perfect reasons why women shouldn’t shy away from stepping out of an unhappy marriage.
“I think you are brave for trying. For trying to find love again, and for trying to build a better life for yourself.”
“There is no formula to finding happiness inside or outside of a relationship.”
“You would rather be single than put up with being with someone where you are unhappy.”
“There are couples in my family who would be much happier if they split up.”
“Better to be getting a divorce than being stuck in a relationship that makes you unhappy.”
“Better than being stubborn and staying married if it’s not what’s right in the long run.”
“…good person but made bad life-partner choices.”
“Life is freaking hard!”
It is quite heart-breaking how society forces women to stay in toxic and abusive marriages. We feel it’s high time that women stand for themselves and, without any hesitation, live a life of happiness and dignity!
