Behind every soldier is a group of silent soldiers who silently sign a pact to dedicate their whole life to the country.
These silent soldiers are the family of every defense personnel – parents, siblings, children, and most importantly, their wives.
The life of these silent soldiers is never easy, especially of army wives.
While the whole country mourns losing a soldier, it is their family that is left broken with a lifetime of pain, sorrow, and grief.
And, one such family is that of Samir Abrol. On 1st Feb, when Garima Abrol, wife of Squadron Leader Samir Abrol, came to know about his sudden death, her grief and sorrow had no bounds.
Though she was still struggling with the loss, she decided to honor her husband’s martyrdom in an unforgettable way. She decided to step into his shoes and join the Indian Air Force.Â
Recently, Author Swapnil Pandey recently took to social media to share an inspiring post about Garima’s inspiring achievement. This is what the post reads:
“There is a special metal Armed Forces wives are made off. While it takes years to make a soldier and create a whole legion of warriors for the nation. It takes extremely special women to be in relationship with these men bound by the uniform first.
Remember Mrs Garima Abrol, wife of squadron leader Samir Abrol who martyred in Mirage2000 fighter plane crash while test flying it at HAL Airport this February?
Her last Instagram Post said “my tears are still not dry and I loved sending my husband to serve the nation with a cup of tea and head held high.” she also mentioned no one cries when they leave but the family. It does not make you a celebrity. Media covers it for a day and drops it and how it takes decade to make a fighter pilot.”
This woman of exceptional substance and remarkable icon of courage has been recommended to join AFA from AFSB Varanasi. She will be joining it in January 2020.
I asked her why Air force after everything? She said” I really want to see what life looks like in his shoes. Legacy has to move on. Wearing the same uniform also gives me a motive to sustain. “
I was at loss of words. Many of us lose zeal to live if we lose an opportunity and here is this woman, the wife of a fighter pilot who did not chose to perish rather worked hard, wiped her tears and moved on to fill the shoes her husband has left behind.
I truly wish people find inspirations in such women more than the fake celebrities roaming around and teach their kids especially young girls about such women who are exemplary examples of rising above the odds and yet, choosing the right path with their heads held high.
~not every woman is made equal some are Armed forces Wives~
Garima received much-deserved respect and appreciation across the country.
Losing the love of your life isn’t easy. No one will deny that it takes a lot of courage to not only accept such a devastating loss but to actually honor it.
Though Garima is struggling with her loss, she still dedicated her life to taking her husband’s proud legacy forward.
As she serves her nation in a capacity similar to her husband, we salute her grit, determination, and courage!
