Tough times are inevitable in life. But how we manage ourselves during these times not only defines our spirit but our future too.
Though many of us tend to blame our circumstances, very few gather the courage to fight those circumstances for their dreams.
Simran and Kajal are two such brave souls. Irrespective of their tough financial backgrounds, these two daughters have shown the world that nothing is impossible.
Though Simran and Kajal both were born in the families of marginalized farmers, neither their financial condition nor the lack of infrastructure in the small village could stop them from achieving great heights.
With their unparalleled determination and persistence, Simran of Hasangarh village in Rohtak and Kajal of Indachoi village in Fatehabad have scored 99.47% and 99.31% respectively in the IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains 2020.
They are daughters of marginalized farmers and along with 46 other students, they were enrolled in the ‘Super-100 programme’ of the Haryana government.
Of the 48 students enrolled under the program, 46 passed the examination.
While sharing her struggle with Hindustan Times over the phone, Simran said cracking the JEE mains is like a dream come true but it is the JEE Advanced exam that she is really aiming for.
“I had studied at a government school in our village till Class 10 and secured over 90%. My father owns less than two acres of land. He had met with an accident a few years ago and remained paralysed for sometime but still managed to provide me and my siblings with good education,”
Simran’s plan is to become a computer science engineer to be able to support her family.
Kajal gives the credit of her success to the ‘Super 100 programme’. She intends to complete her engineering from IIT and then she would like to give back to society by giving tuition to underprivileged students. Naveen Mishra, a headteacher of the super 100 programme at Rewari, along with his five IITian friends, has been giving coaching free of cost to the students.
At I FOR HER, we salute Simran’s and Kajal’s determination, courage, and hard work. How they are fighting against their life circumstances to create a dignified life for themselves is quite inspiring.
We feel their stories are the inspiration for thousands of parents and kids, who are struggling with their life challenges to turn dreams into reality.
