Real heroes are the courageous souls who never give up on themselves, even in the extreme circumstances. One such brave soul is Gangavva Milkuri, a grandmother of eight, who turned into a successful youtube star.
Gangavva Milkuri, an elderly woman from Telangana, left school when she was in the first grade. She has no formal education. But now she has become a sensation on YouTube and also a Tollywood actor.
Her inspiring journey to the top is not at all easy.
As per News18, this brave woman once did farm work and rolled beedis to support her alcoholic husband and 3 kids.
And, now Gangavva is the star of ‘My Village Show’, a youtube channel with 1.5 million subscribers. She initially had no idea about what YouTube was. Her washer son-in-law Srikanth Sriramm started the channel to create comedic sketches about village culture and rural family life.
As per CNN, Gangavva was quoted,
“He used to film plants and trees in the village. I used to think, “Why is this boy wasting his time making videos?” I never imagined in my life that one day I would be in his videos!”
Earlier, she was only making guest appearances in the sketches. But, after 2017, she got more involved in the show. Because of her comic timing and brilliant acting skills, the show became a hit.
Talking about his mother-in-law, Sriram mentioned that even though his mother-in-law is illiterate, she has a charming personality. Her unrehearsed nature adds value to the show.
In 2019, Gangavva’s success scaled to new heights. She featured in two Telugu movies. She also received a golden plaque for reaching one million subscribers on Youtube.
Her acting career moved from the digital space to the big screen. She now has her own Instagram account with over 45,000 followers. It is amazing how Gangavva, who had never stepped foot outside her village, has achieved so much in recent times. While sharing how she is enjoying her new-found celebrity status, she mentioned:
“I like being in front of the camera, I like acting. It’s nice to know that people from all over India are watching what I do.”
Because of her hardwork and determination, this brave soul has repaid her debts and now hopes to build a better house for herself. And, that’s not all. This inspiring soul has also set up a library in the village with her profits.
