Some stories are so inspiring that they fill you with power and strength. They make all problems look small!
One such story is of Gauri Mahadik, who proved that you are much bigger and powerful than your hardships in life. In December 2017, when Gauri lost her loving husband, Army Major Prasad Mahadik (31), her grief and sorrow had no bounds.
Married for only 2 years, Gauri was only 26 years old then.
Major Mahadik was an officer from 7 Bihar regiment of the Indian Army, who was posted along the Indo-China border. He lost his life in the fire, which reportedly broke out at 6.30 am in the barracks where Mahadik was staying.
Rather than absorbing herself in grief and sorrow, this young woman pulled her strength together to make sure that she makes her husband proud.
And, the way she chose to do it would make her husband proud. It will give courage to everyone for fighting against circumstances and making their life beautiful.
In an interview to news agency ANI, Gauri Mahadik said that her husband always wanted her to be happy and smiling, a reason that compelled her to join the army after the untimely demise of her husband.
Yes, Gauri would be joining the Indian Armed Forces to make her husband proud!
Gauri, a qualified company secretary and a lawyer, quit her job at a law firm to prepare for the examinations to join the Army after her husband was martyred.
In her interview, she shared:
“10 days after his demise, I was thinking about what should I do now. I decided that I’ve to do something for him and that I’ll join the forces and wear his uniform and his stars. I will join Army next year as a lieutenant after hardcore training at OTA in Chennai”
As per HT, Gauri shared:
“I will be commissioned as a lieutenant in the non-technical category for war widows,”
What makes it more amazing?
Gauri will be undergoing the rigorous training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai, where her husband late Major Prasad Mahadik was trained before joining the Army.
Gauri Mahadik further added,
“He always wanted me to be happy and smiling. I decided I’ll join the forces, I’ll wear his uniform, his stars on our uniform. Our uniform because it will be his and my uniform”
