In a country, where women are seen as a liability and raised to get married, here is an inspiring story of how a single mom fought against society to let her daughters turn their dream into reality.
An inspiring story of three daughters from Rajasthan is a reminder of how girls can achieve great milestones if supported well.
In 2017, the three daughters of a widowed mother – Kamla Jaat, Geeta Jaat, and Mamta Chaudhary made their mother proud when all three cleared the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) exam!
As per sources, Kamla ranked 32nd in the state; Geeta 64; and Mamta 128. It wasn’t only their mother, who was proud of her daughters but also many more across the country because of their stellar achievement.
The inspiring journey of these three daughters was anything but easy. At every step their family especially, their mother sacrificed. Born in a family without any luxury or basic amenities, these inspiring souls lacked the basic infrastructure that could have helped them to focus on their careers. Their widowed mother worked day and night in the fields to provide them with meals.
One can imagine the hardships that the family went through.
While the mother sweats it out in the fields to feed her daughters, these daughters worked really hard to make a career for themselves. If these women are not the role models of women empowerment, then who is? How these brave souls shut the mouth of narrow-minded people, who taunted and criticized them for focusing on their career rather than getting married is quite inspiring!
As per the sources, the mother of the three girls, Mira Devi shared how it wasn’t easy for her to educate her three daughters. She was mocked by people for not getting them married, despite them being of marriageable age. The sisters further shared how society never celebrated their birth as they were five daughters.
It is quite inspiring how these women fought their circumstances to create a life of dignity and respect for themselves and their mother. At IFORHER, we applaud these superheroes and hope many more parents would seek inspiration from these women!
