In the midst of negative stories around the country, here is a positive one that would definitely bring a smile on your face. Karthiyani Amma & Bhageerathi Amma have been chosen for Nari Shakti Puraskar.
Beating all odds, it is heartwarming to see how two ordinary women – Karthiyani Amma and Bhageerathi Amma achieved something extraordinary.
While many people let go of their dreams because they believe they are too old to learn, Karthiyani Amma and Bhageerathi Amma have proven all wrong.
Karthiyani Amma, who is 98 now, topped the Class 4 equivalency literacy exam with 98/100 in 2018. And Bhageerathi Amma became the oldest equivalency course student in 2019. She is 105.
These two superheroes are being recognized on the big stage as they will get Nari Shakti Puraskar-2019 from the President of India. The ceremony is scheduled for March 8th, which is recognized as International Women’s Day.
The award is given to groups or individuals for their work towards women empowerment and these two women certainly fall in this category.
