Neha Kakkar, a well-known name in the Indian music industry, has touched the hearts of many through her many melodious songs. What makes her journey so inspiring is how she fought against challenges to create a mark for herself.
Her tough and struggling childhood days laid the foundation of Neha’s strength and courage. The age at which many of us were comforted by our families, Neha was working hard to contribute to her family’s financial condition.
On one of her shows, she shared how her father struggled for earning his livelihood:
“Today when I see these kids participating in reality shows, it reminds me of my struggling days. Back in time, my dad used to try his best for our living. We still can’t forget those days when my father used to sell samosas outside Sonu didi’s college (sister Sonu Kakkar). The college students used to tease my sister.”
While seeing her father relentlessly working hard to give his family a respectable life, a four-year-old Neha found a way to contribute to the family finances. Recalling her initial days, she further added,
“We later shifted to Delhi where I, Sonu didi and my brother used to sing in jagrans. I have been singing since I was four years old. At that time there were no time limits, so it used to get extended till morning. Sometimes people never used to even appreciate our efforts. The extended hours of singing only meant that I did not go to school the next day.”
Her life took an amazing turn when she participated in a singing reality show – Indian Idol at age of 16. Things finally started to change for her as she not only released her album but also marked her debut in Bollywood with popular song Dhating Naach for Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’. She also sang some chartbuster songs including Sunny Sunny and London Thumakda.
Within no time from being a singing reality show contestant, she made a journey to becoming a reality show judge.
But, things took an ugly turn when she broke up with her boyfriend Himansh Kohli. Unlike many celebrities, who suffer through depression in silence, Neha gathered all her courage to share her post-break-up depression battle. While opening about her depression post-break-up, she mentioned in one of her posts:
“Yes I am in Depression.”
She further added:
“It’s not bcz of One Person or two, it’s coz of the World who’s not letting me Live my personal life. I’m thankful to everyone who love my work or me but people who talk Rubbish about Me without even knowing how I am or what I’m going through giving me a hard time.. l beg plz Let me live happily, r beg Piz don’t be Judgmental, l beg Plz Let Me Live!”
As Neha battled with her depression without any shame, it is quite inspiring how this strong woman has fought life challenges with poise and determination.
At IFORHER, we wish her luck for future endeavors and hope she will keep inspiring many more to pursue their dreams and not let their circumstances break them.
