Inspiring Story of Sanju Rani Verma as she stands for her dreams against society’s pressure of getting married.
It is heartbreaking how our regressive society tends to fail young daughters. It expects women to give up on their dreams to get married and have children. Despite our prevalent patriarchal mindset, several women are fighting to bring a positive change in our society.
One such inspiring soul is Sanju Rani Verma. Back in 2013, when she was 28 years old, society expected her to give up on her dreams and get married. But she refused to give up. She stood up for herself and her inspiring dreams.
While she was completing her post-graduation from Delhi University, Verma lost her mother.
Post her mother’s demise, her family started pressurizing her to give up her studies and get married. This situation made Sanju realize the ugly truth that to her family, her education isn’t a priority. But, rather than giving up, she chose to fight for her rights and dreams.
As per TOI, initially, Sanju tried to convince her family for her higher education. She tried to explain it to them that she wanted to build her career before she gets married. But sadly, her family had no desire to give her any more time.
So, she decided to leave her family’s home and work on her dream.
Because of a lack of financial support, she had to leave her post-graduation degree midway. She rented a small apartment and started taking private tuitions to pay rent. While she was taking private tuitions, she was offered part-time teaching jobs in private institutions. It is quite inspiring how she managed all these jobs along with preparing for her PCS exam.
Seven years later, Sanju has now cracked the Public Service Commission (PSC) examination.
Last week, her results came out that meant she will now become a commercial tax officer. But the 35-year-old now has a new dream. She wants to crack the civil service exam and fulfill her dream of becoming a Divisional Magistrate. But, what would touch your heart is the fact that she now wants to financially support her family.
But she also wants them to respect her for achieving her success.
Sanju’s success is a perfect reply to all those who raise their daughters to get married. Her story is an inspiration to every woman fighting society’s narrow-mindedness. It is heartbreaking how women in the 21st century have to fight society to fulfill their dreams.
At IFORHER, we salute every woman who is fighting against our patriarchal society for her dreams. These women are the inspiration for our young daughters to never let society dictate the terms of their life.
