Sometimes unfortunate things happen in life that makes you feel not only hopeless but also sucks away your confidence, your smile and your love for life.
It makes me wonder how a fun-loving, confident and intelligent girl in me succumbed under the pressure of an abusive marriage.
I reached a point when I was so used to abuse, that when my parents gave me a suggestion to chose divorce over my abusive marriage, I broke all the ties with them.
This was until I found my husband cheating on me with another woman.
With a 3-year-old baby in my arms, I stepped out of my marriage without knowing what the future had for me.
And, while I was struggling to get myself out of the dark shadows, struggling to find a single ray of hope, I heard the powerful story of a woman who refused to give up when life tried to beat her.
Binita Jain recently appeared as a contestant on the show Kaun Banega Crorepati-10. Most of the people showed interest in her story because she won one crore rupees.
But for me, it wasn’t the money that ignited my sense of admiration for her. It was her journey, which was marred with hardships.
[ifh_news_form]For Binita just one incident changed her life completely. Unlike me, she wasn’t abused, cheated or divorced by her husband. But what she went through was even more painful.
On the show, Binita shared her story how her husband was kidnapped by terrorists and went missing. Never to return.
She told about how her family’s several attempts at trying to find him were unsuccessful. And, with each passing moment, she realized that she should gear herself to take control of her family’s future. But at the same time, she never gave up waiting for her husband’s return.
It’s been more than 15 years and her husband is still missing. According to the Evidence Act, when a person is missing for more than seven years, he is declared dead.
Even though the government has declared her husband dead, she still lives in the hope that he will return one day.
After listening to her story, I felt that there is something worse than being hopeless – It is to live your life with a hope that you know might never get fulfilled.
When Binita spoke about her motto–that life moves on, I was so inspired.
She is an inspiration to many of us, who are trying hard to beat life. And, she is displaying us how to fight the challenges and never give up.
She has inspired me in so many different ways, I can’t even put in words. But, if I have to then I couldn’t think of any better words than these –
Thank you, Binita Jain, for pumping life into my lifeless dreams. I can’t thank you enough!
