Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were one of the most talked-about couples in Bollywood during the late 90s. As per many reports, their love story began on the sets of the film ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ in 1999. They had a sizzling on-screen chemistry that soon turned into a real-life romance. However, their relationship took an ugly turn and reports started surfacing that there were problems in their relationship. Aishwarya accused Salman Khan of physically, verbally, and emotionally abusing her.
In one of the interviews with Times Of India, Aishwarya had allegedly accused Salman of being abusive towards her, both verbally and physically. She had also alleged that he would stalk her and create a scene if she refused to take his calls.
During her interview with TOI, she said, “Salman and I broke up last March, but he isn’t able to come to terms with it. After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked up with everyone, from Abhishek Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened.”

Later, as per sources, Aishwarya issued a statement announcing that she would no longer work with Salman. In her statement, she said, “For the sake of my well-being, my dignity, and self-respect of my family – ENOUGH! I will not work with Mr. Salman Khan. The Salman chapter was a nightmare in my life and I am thankful to God that it is over!”

She further added, “While I have maintained a dignified silence about him and his wrong-doings, he (his family and friends) has repeatedly attacked the respect, dignity and pride of me and my family (with irresponsible rumour-mongering. I stood by him enduring acholism, misbehavior in worse phases and in turn, I was at the receiving end of his abuse (verbal, physical, emotional), infidelity and indignity.”
“That is why like any other self-respecting woman and God is witness, I said enough and ended it almost two years ago but because of a dignified silence, all have misrepresented my stand and spread rumors about my character and baselessly alleged affairs and tried to spoil healthy working relations with costars.”, she noted.

While concluding her statement, she said, “I do not want to get into the gory details and obnoxious experiences, which incite washing dirty linen and other ugly untruths. For a long time now, they have time and again tried to wreck my peace and sanity both personally and professionally. But they’ll forget no one can play God because there is God! That is the only truth,” And, till today, Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan have never worked again.
On the professional front, Salman Khan’s movie ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ recently hit theaters, and Aishwarya Rai’s movie ‘PS-2’ is scheduled for release this Friday.
