The news of Akshay Kumar being COVID positive has once again started the conversation on misleading advertisements. When Akshay Kumar was tested positive for COVID-19, his recent Dabur Chyawanprash advertisement drew a lot of criticism. The ad claims that Dabur Chyawanprash reduces the risk of contracting coronavirus by up to 12 times.
Though the company claimed that they conducted research to prove the same. However, no research or study has been shared on their website.
The ad, which drew flak earlier as well from people including the Advertising Standards Council of India, once again came under the radar and opened a floodgate of jokes and memes on social media.

In the midst of pandemic, the Ayurvedic industry and other therapeutics companies have seen a boost in sales. But many of these companies have been accused of misleading advertisements.
Sold as a cure of COVID, Patanjali Ayurved’s drug Coronil had also come under the scanner earlier. Even Sourav Ganguly’s heart condition made many question the claim of Fortune Oil campaign featuring Sourav Ganguly. Ganguly earlier faced trolling for promoting healthy edible oil in the advertisement while he himself suffered a heart ailment.
