From time to time, our celebrities do make stupid statements and left many of us shocked and angry. In the list of celebrities making idiotic statements, recently, a new name was added. And, that name was Bollywood actress Sonali Kulkarni.
Showcasing her lack of empathy, Sonali Kulkarni made a shameless statement that left many disgusted. From calling women lazy to blaming them for being gold diggers, Sonali Kulkarni said many disgusting things about women. Without realizing that women still struggle to have equal opportunities as that men, Sonali was heavily criticized for making a sexist statement.
In an interview, Sonali Kulkarni shared a regressive opinion about women. She said that women are lazy and only want to marry wealthy men. She further added how men are put under extreme pressure to earn at a young age. Whereas, women are free to decide what they want to do in their lives, even in their 20s. It is quite heartbreaking how a popular actress made such a sexist statement.
“In India, we, at times, forget that a lot of women are just lazy. They want a boyfriend/husband, who earns well, owns a house, and his performance at work guarantees regular increments.” Sonali said. She further added, “Women keep pressurizing their boyfriends for a honeymoon abroad. There are so many things these days, like destination weddings. And they expect their boyfriends to pay for all of it.”
During this interview, Sonali Kulkarni also added that women are not capable enough to earn for themselves. She also shared how her husband started working at the age of 20.
It is quite regressive to make such statements because they demean women and all their efforts. Not only men but there are so many women who strive hard to contribute to family financial income. Additionally, women do not always get equal opportunities as that man be it education, jobs, social acceptance and so much more. But still, they try hard to do the best they could!
Such regressive statements disrespect so many women who even after being overburdened with domestic chores strive hard to build careers. It is quite disgusting to generalize and associate laziness with one specific gender!
What left us most disgusted was the fact that she stated that women don’t go out to seek jobs. And when they have jobs, they’re constantly aggressive and take every “small issue” to HR. She further compared objectification to ‘appreciation’. In an interview, Sonali said, “And women say, “Tumne meri taraf aise kyun dekha?” You don’t even want appreciation? Kisi ne aapko achha bola toh aap HR ko report karoge.”
Seriously, what’s wrong with her? Fortunately, many netizens called her out for her stupid statements.
Who can give such statements that women are lazy, if not a privileged upper caste woman.

Look at women in this country. The amount of unpaid labor women do almost feels criminal.
She needs to read the Govt data on what women go through in this country.
Sit down, Miss Kulkarni. https://t.co/P8dHOuAERC
In essence she is saying that men will take up all unpaid labour from women and women shd be given the opportunity to become equals. I’m more excited at how she is challenging men to become better at domestic chores

She wanted men to applaud. The best way to bash women. Make men victim.
— Paromita Bardoloi (@Paromitabardolo) March 16, 2023
There you go.
She put all of us under the bus. But she got what she wanted. The men applauded.

I would see the song ‘woh ladki hai kahan’ and think why she didn’t get more opportunities. I’m glad now she didn’t. We need more women supporting women and not the ones like her tearing them down.

Women needn’t defend themselves against some1 privileged like Sonali Kulkarni who seeks applause while saying ‘women are lazy…’. Her talk panders 2 all that secret hate men (n yes, women) hav for women. It’s ok. Age old problem. Women aren’t always your allies n can sell u short

To talk about lazy people and making it a gendered case are two different thing.
— Paromita Bardoloi (@Paromitabardolo) March 16, 2023
She is downright throwing so many of us under the bus.
If men are so traumatized by Patriarchy, they would have dismantled it centuries back.
It works for them. And women like g
Her enables them
I don’t know whom she’s talking about . We all started earning at age of 20, most of us contribute towards house expenses .today’s women are more career oriented. People taunt us by saying “ tujhe kya jarrorat paise kamane ki pati kama raha hai na”

I’m not sharing Sonali Kulkarni’s trash video, but it really angers me. You can’t call all women lazy when the gender equality balance is so skewed. Yes there are women who want to marry wealth. But most women in this country aren’t given education or the freedom to work.

As per the recent reports, Sonali apologized for her statements after facing backlash. In the statement posted on the social media account, she said:
“Dear all, I’m overwhelmed with the feedback I’m receiving. I would like to thank all of you, especially the entire press and media for the extremely mature conduct of connecting with me. Being a woman myself, my intention was not to hurt other women. In fact, I have extensively expressed myself time and again in support of us and what is it being a woman. I’m grateful to all of you for reaching out to me personally to appreciate or to criticize. Hope we will be able to have more open exchange of thoughts,” a part of her statement read.
She further wrote “In my capacity I am trying to think, support and share warmth not only with women, but with the entire mankind. It will be only strengthening if we women with our vulnerabilities and wisdom shine through as fair and able beings. If we are inclusive and empathetic, we will be able to create a healthier, happier place to be. Having said that, if unknowingly, I may have caused pain, I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart. I do not thrive upon headlines neither do I want to be the center of sensational situations. I’m a diehard optimist and I strongly believe that life indeed is beautiful. Thanks for your patience and support. I have learned a lot from this incident.”
