After hitting the cinemas on April 22, Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur’s sports drama Jersey will soon be available to stream on Netflix. The Hindi remake of Nani-starrer was released in cinemas after multiple delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Sadly, it proved to be unsuccessful at the box office. Now, streaming giant Netflix has announced that Jersey will premiere on the platform on May 20. Netflix took to social media and shared the announcement with the post: “If you see us tearing up, it’s because we just watched Jersey and we can’t wait for you to catch it too. JERSEY ARRIVES ON NETFLIX ON 20TH MAY,”

Jersey is an official remake of the 2019 Telugu hit of the same name and by the same director. The movie’s plot revolves around Arjun Talwar, who is a former cricketer in his late 30s. After his son’s insistence on a jersey, he decides to return to the field in the hope of reliving his glory days. While Shahid played the male lead, Mrunal portrayed his wife in the movie. The movie also stars Pankaj Kapur. Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had helmed the original, had also directed the Hindi adaptation.
While Jersey got mixed reactions, it couldn’t stand the competition from Kashmir Files, RRR and Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. It is said to have collected around Rs 20 crore till now. The movie, undoubtedly, has all the elements of an inspirational sports drama but couldn’t bring the audience to the cinema halls.
Jersey will premiere on May 20 on Netflix. In case you haven’t watched it, don’t forget to stream it on Netflix.
