Recently, Priyanka Chopra’s shocking statement about being pushed into a corner took the internet by storm. In one of the recent podcasts, Priyanka Chopra shared her reason to quit Bollywood. She said, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”. In wake of PC’s statement, an old video of Aishwarya Rai opening up about being removed from five films is going viral.
Aishwarya On Being Removed From Multiple Films
On Simi Garewal’s popular show, Aishwarya Rai opened up about being replaced in multiple movies opposite Shah Rukh Khan. During the interview, she also shared how shocked and hurt she was when she was abruptly removed from the movies.
During the show, Simi Garewal asks Aishwarya about Shah Rukh Khan and the movies she was replaced in. She says, “You were working together on five films, weren’t you? Aish. Veer Zara was written for you.”

Before answering the questions, Aishwarya smiled and said “A couple of films were supposed to happen with me. But suddenly, they weren’t happening, without any reason whatsoever. I have never had the answer to why.”
When Simi Garewal further asked Aishwarya if she decided to quit the movies, Aish said, “No, it wasn’t my decision. You obviously are taken aback, confused, and, of course, hurt. You wonder about it,” According to multiple sources, Aishwarya and Shah Rukh Khan were supposed to work together in the movies like Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Veer Zaara. But, unfortunately, Aishwarya was replaced in all the movies.
For the unversed, in 2003, Shah Rukh spoke to India Today about replacing Aishwarya Rai in movies. He said, “To start a project with someone and then change her for no fault of hers is very difficult. It is very sad as Ash is a good friend. Personally, I think I did wrong. But as a producer, it made sense. I apologised to Ash.”
During her interview show, Simi asked Aishwarya if she ever confronted Shah Rukh Khan’s decision of replacing her. She answered, “It’s not in my nature to. If a person feels a need to explain it, they will. If they never did, they never intend to. So, it’s not in my nature to question what and why. Probably within myself, but I wouldn’t go up to a person and ask why. By the grace of God, I’m not defined by the other.”
Talking about Bollywood, Simi asked Aishwarya if this experience changed her views about the film industry. “Did that experience change your outlook on how things work in Bollywood?”, Simi asked Aish.
While answering the question, Aish said, “You become more aware of what you’ve heard about, like in terms of…situations, people having a dominos effect on other people or other projects. It became obvious that it can happen to me too…with all your apparent box office success or ‘secure positioning’ in the industry.”
